Video files downloaded as just a file

I am using Free Download Manager with Flashgot and latest Firefox. I have downloaded several videos with the help of Flashgot. After the download is complete every time the downloaded file is displayed as just a "file" and is not recognized by my media players (VLC & Pot plaer)as WebM or FlV or MPeg4. However the file does play in the media player. Why is the file recognized as only a "file" and not as a video file like WebM or FLV or MPeg4? What I have to do in case I have to choose the type of file to download? Most of the time when I right click the Flashgot icon the files to be downloaded are displayed as FLV but I don't see it in the downloaded file.

FDM is probably not able to accept the "pretty name" (i.e., with extension & whatnot) from FlashGot, so all it gets is some more generic-type name, sans extension.

So simply rename the downloads.

May also depend on the particular server.
URLs where this happens?

I have to do the same with downloads from Youtube, as they come down as "videoplayback", nothing more.
Most other sites work better, providing an extension, but still some do not name the downloads as expected, so it might be bf62239.mp3 rather then "Django Django WOR.mp3".
