Can you get the icon to appear by toggling the "status bar icon" option found in Options > Appearance?

Shame :(
The disappearing status-bar icon has been a problem for a couple of other users in the past couple of weeks.
One of them was resolved when the user reverted to a previous version, then installed the latest one again.
Reverting isn't recommended, except for this kind of temporary troubleshooting.

The other one didn't report back with a resolution after trying a few troubleshooting steps.
I'm assuming that you are able to invoke the NS menu using the shortcut keys or the context menu on the web page - - if you can't invoke the menu, is it possible that NS has somehow become uninstalled or inactivated? Check your tools>addons menu to verify.

Can you check back to see what the developer suggests for a troubleshooting recipe?
I hope it resolves eventually for you; that icon is my safety icon and I feel naked on the web without it.

That Mozilla Addons site can get seriously bad at times.
Give it an hour and try again.
Otherwise, maybe disable NS and try a reversion again.

I have to go offline now.
Good luck.

What about the top toolbar icon? Have you installed that? The problem with the bottom icon needs to be fixed, but if you install the top icon and the dropdown arrow next to it, at least you're fully functional.

I suspect an extension conflict. Does it work if you use the default theme and disable all of your other extensions?
Take a look at the Standard Diagnostic too.

I had the same problem, the NoScript icon not showing and the add-on not really working. I found it was a conflict with a plug-in called "Microsorft .NET Framework Assistant" which I believe was installed without my knowledge by the Windows update. I disabled it and everything works now. Bloomin' annoying!
