I was browsing and using Vista 64x and Firefox 3.10 with noscript, lastest versions. Noscript disappeared after restarting firefox. It just was not running. I went to addons and clicked on the Noscript Options button and then the addon window stopped responding. the firefox browser still responds. So I kill ed the firefox process. I restarted firefox and opened the addons window and was able to uninstall noscript. I then restarted firefox. Opened firefox and went to the addons page on mozilla and started the install for noscript (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/latest/722/addon-722-latest.xpi) . It gets about 90% done on the task bar (320 of 355 KB)and then errors out.

Error description:

Error window has Title bar "Error"
With Yellow triangle and Exclamation point.
Firefox could not install the File at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/latest/722/addon-722-latest.xpi

because: Unexpected installation error
Review the Error Console log for more details.

I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox then tried to install noscript and I got the same issue.

I also could not install Flashgot plugin. I guess I can;t install addons period. I got the same error as before.

Could I have a problem with my antivirus/firewall software? Its Bitdefender total security/

Turned off antivirus and firewall protection and I still can't install addon.

I renamed my raoming profile extension files and then I was able to successfully install noscript. Thanks "therube"

Glad you got it working, kudos therube, I have encountered corrupt installations many times and usually a simple housecleaning does the trick.
