P.S.: I'm really investigating the option to download/install a ffmpeg static build on demand and use it to mux the downloaded streams in a future version...
Finally. But now so do I've to wait until it gets updated on FireFox 25.0.1

Why? Can't you just install it from there?

I can... But I just don't feel like clicking on some check-boxes again... I mean wouldn't I also have to un-install the current one I've installed and re-install it? I don't want to do that everytime there is an update to FlashGot.

No checkboxes and no reinstalls.
It's just like installing from AMO, just you get my new stuff earlier.

Looks like DASH returns two mp4's named "small" (of differing sizes)?
(Only one "small" m4a.)

A simple command to mux the audio & video:

Code: Select all

ffmpeg.exe   -i input_video.mp4   -i input_audio.m4a   -acodec copy   -vcodec copy   outfile.mp4

(Now, who's going to determine if there is any quality difference between any/all of these ;-).)

Oh... Okay I'll install it now then.

Is it possible to account for higher than 1080 resolutions too? (yes this is a wild shot!)

For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_4eI_2MPls has a 1440p quality option but the DASH download option only goes up to 1080p.

(More of a if-you-have-time request than anything else!)

Thx for the new release... but now, the 1080p.mp4 option deliver a file without sound, also, 1 of 2 720p.mp4 options remains with the same problem...

Tested with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U3jrS-uhuo

Previous posts have explained this. You have to mux, or merge in other words, the audio with video with software as youtube splits certain video files that they probably don't want rippers to obtain. The absence of sound is normal. Unfortunately, this sucks and is inconvenient, but it is much better than being stuck with 720p only.

OMG I love how you can post without registering, if you enabled quickreply button it would be even better (like, have this post box below the thread so it makes it clearer that we can post without needing to register - I finally gave in and was about to stop lurking and register, but found to my surprise I don't have to do the usual email hokeypokey dance for a change woooo :))

Anywayyyyy what I was gonna say is this: I read the thread, and downloaded the new flashgot 1.5.5.95 beta, but when I download the Miley Cyrus vs Joan of Arc. Epic Rap Battles of History, choosing from the DASH dropdown the most high quality video option hd1080 video mp4, and the large audio mp4, NEITHER file will play - they are the right file size after downloading, but just do not work in either VLC or windows media player, whilst 720 downloaded files will work fine... hm. I looked in my internet history and there are huge long googlevideo address links, and when visiting those pages it says "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt", if that helps at all?

-- Also, I was wondering if you will be able to get the video downloader to work with the short videos they have on
bbc 0co0uk FORWARDSLASH news FORWARDSLASH video_and_audio
maybe please please? There's often nice little things I want to save from there to remember :(

-- or the programmes on
4od 0com
there is no known downloader I can find that works for 4od stuff at the moment, you can only download a really low quality version for phones

Works here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQx1sqPHTrk

Both the separate video & audio play, separately, in MPlayer.
Can't image that VLC wouldn't do the same?

Muxed together, I get both the audio & video in one file, & that too plays.

I have a weird bug at the moment where when choosing where to download from with flashgot (after selecting hd1080 or whatever, the popup that appears for destination) and then clicking on the text field and changing it to my music videos folder, it actually downloads to a different folder I used before, when I look for the files, maybe that is related, I dunno, hm.....

A couple of tweaks:
  1. The more canonical extension for "video/3gpp" seems to be ".3gp", not .3gpp
  2. for flashgot.media.YouTube.remap_stream_quality, the larger 3gp video is 180p, not 240p

You can customize it any way you want. The template is:

Code: Select all

flashgot.media.YouTube.itag_remap.quality.XXX = NAME
flashgot.media.YouTube.itag_remap.quality.XXX.itags = a, b, c
XXX can be any garbage, as long as it mets the following conditions: 1) it must be unique within the map (the "flashgot.media.YouTube.itag_remap.quality." branch), 2) it must not contain dots (".").
NAME is the display name, i.e. it's what you see in the menu item: "240p", "360p", etc.
a, b, c - is the itag list. To get the value of the itag for a particular stream type, copy its URL by right-clicking the menu item, then paste it somewhere and look for the "&itag=NNN" string. The NNN would be the itag value.

So in this case that would be:

Code: Select all

flashgot.media.YouTube.itag_remap.quality.180p = 180p
flashgot.media.YouTube.itag_remap.quality.180p.itags = 36
Then you can update the sort order by adding NAME ("180p" in this case) at whatever position you want it to be. Here I inserted it between "240p" and "144p":

Code: Select all

flashgot.media.YouTube.remap_quality_sort_order = Original, 1440p, 1080p, 1080p (3D), 720p, 720p (3D), 520p, 480p, 480p (3D), 360p, 360p (3D), 270p, 240p, 180p, 144p, 256k, 128k, 48k
