Sorry the vague instructions. So, you have NoScript set to Allow Scripts Globally so as to not break NetVideo Hunter - that's perfect for this. Now, in NetVideoHunter, play a video that requires NoScript set to Allow Scripts Globally.

Now open DOMi and selected to inspect NetVideoHunter window, as above. Likely the top-level document is a chrome://... URI, so it's already whitelisted by NoScript; we'll need to go deeper in the DOM. Click the icon that looks like an arrow on something (its tooltip is "Find a node to inspect by clicking on it"). Then in the NetVideoHunter window click the playing video. Read the node tag names up the DOM tree and see if you find any nodes marked as "#document". If so, NetVideoHunter is playing the videos in a frame. Get its URL by going in the right panel, selecting the drop down, and clicking "JavaScript Object", check the value of "URL" property.
Also take note of the node where the video is playing and see if working your way into the DOM tree reveals its URL (not sure offhand whether "DOM Node" or "JavaScript Object" in the right panel is better suited to getting that URL). It's possible that NetVideoHunter is playing the video from some URI other than its URL on the web.

If this is too involved for you then therube will understand what to do, I've no time to check it myself right now sorry.

I appreciate such detail. It's brand new IT troubleshooting for me, but I like learning new utilities and problem solving even if it gets aggravating. If I followed your instructions correctly, it's not a URI but a XUL. The only "address" I saw was "chrome://netvideohunter/content/mediaList.xul"
It's not a URL so it was not accepted for a Whitelist add on. I did not see the "Find a node to inspect by clicking on it option", which implies I missed something. Any ideas? Screenshot links are below.

So far so good. See this screenshot you took, it's the toolbar icon on the far left, to the left of the URL bar and the binoculars icon.

Next, click on the playing video in NetVideoHunter (it might flash red border around it) the node containing the video should then be selected or at least visible

hi,

Done a few tests with youtube, vimeo.
Apparently Netvideohunter needs the file:// protocol to be whitelisted in NoScript in order for the videoplayer to work.

Issue looks related to this: "... extensions needs (quite oddly) the file:// "protocol" to be whitelisted in NoScript to correctly operate...,"

The add-on is configured to open in a pop-up window (which is default). NoScript does not show the option to allow file:// in the menu when you click Play to preview a video.
When changing NetVideoHunter's window mode to "Open in Tab",one can choose to allow file:// or to temporarily allow file:// from NoScript's menu.

whattodo:
1. Add/allow file:// to NoScript's whitelist.
2. Close firefox then restart it (pressing F5 doesn't always do the trick).
3. Test.

And that is with NoScript disabled.
So the fact that the second clip is not working certainly is no fault of NoScript.

In both cases I'm getting an HTML5 player, DASH, webm/VP9 (in the browser).

NVH looks to be (attempting) to play the mp4 version.
And as you can see, "file:///".

If I'm understanding, most likely not, NVH is using flowplayer 3.2.16 where the most recent is 3.2.18, http://flash.flowplayer.org/documentati ... story.html. Maybe an update would help?

The second youtube video in your post is an official one (protected).
Nvh is prevented to preview protected (youtube) content or download it. (This also might happen on other videosites that are using DRM techniques.)
The only message that appears in the window when trying to preview a protected youtube video: "No video with supported format and MIME type found"

The clip plays just fine on my end. And I can find it embedded on other sites, http://www.gorillavsbear.net/video-mari ... -the-dark/ (where it works too).

So just what is it with NVH, what is the reason that it cannot play it?

With whatever random clip I happened to test with before (earlier in this thread), that is what I had gotten - with NVH, though it did play on YT's site.

Was not intended. I apologize and keep quiet after leaving you with my final nvh comments:

Purpose of these types of add-ons is to get links to videolocation(s) and grab content for download, yes?

I cannot preview protected Youtube content in NVH nor download it and I've tried quite a few videos. NVH detects the actual videolink location and that's about it.
From videosite's point of view one could say protection (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) is working...

Perhaps not being able to preview certain (youtube) videos in NVH could be or is a side effect of this protection?

Not sure if any of these links work in your region/country but i've tested these with NVH.
In screenshot of nvh's medialist i've marked the ones that are "protected" and cannot be previewed. Those with "...&Signature=false" at the end of the link.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with video protection, is it connected to advertising/adware...

If for some reason anyone does not have NoScript installed, you get a pop-up window whenever you click the NVH button in firefox.
It shows:

"This content requires Java Update 13.6. Would you like to update it now."

All clickable buttons (Install,Continue,X) link to an URL starting with https://adbma.adk2x.com/click/OXMJI5Q_.....
A bit questionable... at the least.

Then another popup window, triggered by a protected YT video or something else is showing:

"Sorry, you can't watch this content as guest. Please continue to create free account"

.
Again all clickable buttons (and flix123) point to URL starting with https://adbma.adk2x.com/click/.... which refer to http://network.adsmarket.com/.... and ends up at https://goplayz.com/registration?...

Double dubious.
