Hi Barbaz,

Whew...it would appear that one obstacle after another is thrown before me but I'm determined to get through this.

Ok, so I tried to import my "Samfind" bookmarks by following your instructions to no avail, but I also wanted to tell you a few things I encountered. Unfortunately, my old profile didn't have an xpi file to think within the extension folder but I did however find 2 "xpi" files as follows.

jid1-JcGokIiQyjoBAQ@jetpack.xpi

jid1-Rm4h1P3jB1IL4w@jetpack.xpi

BTW, I was only able to cut-n-paste these "xpi" files by going into the properties which wasn't bad for a rookie novice like myself. hahahaha..

Any attempts to import them by either drag-n-drop or otherwise proved to be fruitless. This was quite disappointing in light of not having the "xulstore.json" in the old profile which I presume would've made this whole process a lot easier. SO, what I did was from the old profile I exported all of my "Samfind" bookmarks to a document in the HTML format and from there I tried to drag-n-drop the bookmarks to the Samfind toolbar also to no avail.

Now, here is where it gets interesting because while I had the html bookmarks for Samfind open only the "No Google Analytics" extension successfully downloaded, despite it already being in my extensions. Oh, and BTW I did follow your recommendations to check and see if the "add-ons" was turned on in the manager which was confirmed to be on.

At any rate, I made another attempt by trying to drag-n-drop the aforementioned "xpi" files to the SamFind toolbar and got a message stating "the files were corrupted." So, since I don't have the expertise to figure this out, I"m hopeful you will continue to have patience and get me through it, pretty please. :-)

Many blessings,

Cowboyfan

sigh. I was afraid of that... this happened to me too once, with one of my self made addons... after some investigation I found the xpi really was corrupted, and my solution was... well, I actually don't have any idea how it got solved, sorry :(

In any case, you can get a non-corrupted samfind bookmarks xpi by re-installing it from https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/samfind-bookmarks-bar/.

Did copying prefs.js restore your samfind bookmarks? If not, maybe it stores its data somewhere else in your profile. Can you please list all the names of the files and folders in your prior profile folder ("default")?
