Regarding what Wuff noticed
if you have Flashgot downloaded be sure to check the add-on bar for the icon. If it is there, then you can relocate the icon so that it is always there. (press Alt +v then t then c, then click and drag icon to desired location)

It's not very techy but it's something I spent an hour trying to do...lol

O/T: Do you know how to move or change the order/position of icons in the Status Bar on Fx 3.6.x? No one else seems to, and Fx Help is ... no help. TIA.

You can do some minor stuff using customize toolbar by hacking the display file and using DOM Inspector to get the id of the container and using something like Stylish to mess with it, not worth it; but ultimately short of that you have t0 use an addon like organize status bar found here and does pretty amazing work, just don't think its been updated since the introduction of addon bar which allows regular customization. So check it out, I used to use it in the old days myself as I was very picky about where things go and with this puppy you can put stuff on left and right sides and segregate pretty nicely.

I'll check that out, thanks, Brother.

I hope they take the hint and maintain 3.6 longer.

Does that work on the 4+ (i. e., 11.0) Add-on bar? -- or what is the trick to rearranging icons there? Tried it and nearly foobarred it. Fortunately, got back to where it was, but would like to rearrange a bit.

Welcome, any time. I believe I used it in 4.x but since I haven't use it in a long while, I am not 100% sure when I stopped and to what point it kept working fine, so I am sorry about that but I am pretty sure it will work fine in 3.x if not too many versions higher.

Looks like it's not quite so necessary for Fx 11, per http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/wha ... add-on-bar, although the dev says he did a little hack to make this tool compatible with higher versions. Trying it out on F3 shortly.

As I said earlier in the thread, in later versions with addon bar, you can just regular customize for the most part, but since you wanted something for 3.x I suggested that. Try it both ways and see what works for you. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else.

"Organize status bar" works just fine. Thanks for pointing to it.

How does it work just fine?

I have a status Bar addon ( Status-4-Evar, recommended addon ) and I have an active addon bar.

And there is NO flashgot media icon any more.
How are you supposed to get it onto the addon bar? Whe I do customize addon bar I get offered many items, but no flashgot media icon.

(Firefox 11, Flashgot 1.4.3)

Just to be sure, could you disable all your add-ons except FlashGot and check whether the FG Media icon appears when a Youtube movie starts playing?

Also, keep in mind that some status bar organizers don't account for icons that ONLY come up when they are activated and don't have a permanent placeholder. Its a shortcoming of most of them. I fixed this when I used the statusbar organizer back in the day by intentionally adding the icon from the list to it, even though after you finalized it wouldn't show again, until of course the item is initialized for a reason. Just saying.
