I have no clue how to apply the surrogate, but I just enabled DOM Storage and now YouTube works perfectly. It's always just that easy, isn't it? Thanks a lot for your help.

Well, just for the record I wanted to add that I did *not* have dom.storage.enabled set to false - obviously making the fix easier for me to hunt down (albeit still with a lot of trial and error - narrowing it down to one single cookie is not always the first thing you think of ;) )

Smokey - you should check out the latest version of the BetterPrivacy extension (V1.48.3). It seems like it would fit your particular needs fairly well, unless of course you need persistent DOM storage across sessions for some reason.
