"about:blank" is in the Default Whitelist, and *must* stay there.
I don't know how it got into your Untrusted list. You might have clicked it accidentally at some site.
English name of the button, in German it is "Zurücksetzen"). Pushing this button ultimately helps (without Firefox restart).
That is the "reset" button. It resets NS to the defaults. Which would correct the problem, but you must be sure not to blacklist about:blank again.

Then add your other configurations as you please, and all should be well.
Please let us know if this helps.

fex wrote:Hallo!

Just to share my experience:
I had the same problem with Firefox 10.0.2 and NoScript 2.3.2 (both are the latest versions at the moment).
Neither google instant search nor the google search button worked (on google.de; I did not try any other google TLD). The symptoms were exaclty like the ones described in the previous posts.

So what I did was:
- Export the broken configuration
- Reset the NoScript settings (this helped immediately)
- Export the fresh settings
- kompare-d both config files

What I found out:
- The broken config contained the line: [begin]"untrusted":"about:blank",[end]
- I found no setting in the GUI that corresponds to this line
- Entering this line into the fresh settings and importing them breaks google again! (after Firefox restart)
- Removing this line from the settings helps *sometimes* (after Firefox restart); Sometimes I needed to push the "Reset" button. (I am not sure about the English name of the button, in German it is "Zurücksetzen"). Pushing this button ultimately helps (without Firefox restart).

I had this problem and my settings had the "untrusted":"about:blank" line. A reset fixed it. Although I don't know how about:blank got into the blacklist.

I don't either, since every update of NoScript ships with about:blank in the Default Whitelist.

For anyone else who has this problem, it can be solved without the complete Reset, which loses all of your customized settings, whitelist, Untrusted list, etc.

Open about:config
In Filter Bar, type:
noscript.untrusted
In the Value field, which is in alphabetical order (mostly), about:blank should be first, or very near the first, entry.

Right-click anywhere on that line, click Modify, and in the resulting dialog box, find about:blank and delete it.

If it's the first entry, delete the leading space before the next entry, if it doesn't do that for you.
If there is one or more entries before it, just make sure to leave exactly one blank space between what are now successive entries (with about:blank gone).

Close about:config.

Open NoScript Options > Whitelist.
Ensure that about:blank is there, near the middle, with the other about:... entries.

If it isn't there, add it, by typing it in the "Address" space at the top, then click "Allow".
Click OK.
Done.
