[RESOLVED] pdf files show as black page

I had this problem. I have Acrobat pro 8 installed as well as adobe reader. I discovered that in the Preferences/Internet, the "Display PDF in browser" checkbox was ticked in both Acrobat Pro and in reader. Unchecking it in Acrobat Pro solved the problem.

Hope this helps anyone else with similar problem.

After being sent here by google when searching for pdf files showing up black in Firefox, I checked out the above property in Acrobat Reader. Sidenote: I do not have Acrobat Pro installed on this PC.

For me it was unticked. After turning it on, the first signs indicate that it has resolved my problem. \o/ Thank you, JamesM.

I had the same problem! I went to Tools > Options > Applications > and change Action from Always ask to Use Adopt Acrobat N version. In my case N version was 6.0
