I'd like to add my thanks to this old thread also.
It's now 2011 and I ran into this 260 signing issue and it was driving me absolutely nuts.

Please check whether you disabled the code signing certificate authority "UTN-USER-First Object".
If you don't know what I'm talking about, then your current
profile is probably corrupted, and you may need
