Just got a bunch of A/V codec updates from Xubuntu and Kubuntu 14.0.4

It fixed libavcodec error from "some" Flash pages, like Twitch.

Updated back to NS version 2.9.5.2 and it works great.

Codec updates was the fault. Sorry :-(

rasn, does that fix it for you as well?

01. Firstly, let me apologise for the delayed response - some urgent issues have kept me away from this over the last few days.
02. No - unfortunately, this does not fix it for me: I'm not so sure that Golem's issue is the same as mine. Unlike Golem, I have not been receiving any libavcodec errors.
Golem may wish to specify which A/V codec updates Golem received just recently, along with the version numbers for each update.
I run a different GNU+Linux distribution with Firefox-50.0.2, Flashplayer-11.2.202.644 (as a plugin), and NoScript-2.9.5.2. I currently meet Mozilla's "Software Requirements" (both categories for "GNU/Linux"):
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/5 ... uirements/
03. A couple of nights ago, I tried viewing some programmes on SBS-OnDemand; using the Firefox, Flashplayer, and NoScript versions as stated in point "02" above. I enabled all the blocked scripts as they came up, an almost necessity it would seem now - as SBS (in their wisdom(?!)) now require us to login if we wish to view OnDemand programmes, a change which came into effect after I made the earlier posts. This attempt completely crashed my system (not just the desktop environment as in earlier attempts), requiring me to kill the machine via the power button.
04. Currently, the only way I've been able to successfully view SBS-OnDemand & ABC-iView programmes; is to either downgrade NoScript to version 2.9.0.14 (as suggested earlier by barbaz), or completely remove NoScript.
05. Flash continues to work for Flash videos at the following two sites:
=> https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/
=> http://www.dw.com/en/

Do you have e10s enabled in Firefox?

I'm not sure, I suspect that I do. Which "about:config" preference do I need to look for?

Again, please accept my apologies for the delay, external factors kept me away from here.
* 01. I'm now running Firefox-50.1.0.
* 02. According to "about:support"; my "Multiprocess Windows" status reads; "1/1 (Enabled by default)" with only one window open, and "n/n (Enabled by default)", where you can substitute "n" with the total number of Firefox windows I may have open at a time . From that, I'm assuming that I therefore do have e10s enabled.

Yeah, you do. And there is a bug with e10s and Flash on Linux - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22379

Does disabling e10s make this problem go away?

Okay. To answer the last post by barbaz:
* 1. My current browser installation is:
=> Firefox-50.1.0 (Linux-x86_64) (Latest Release - (Security Fixes)).
=> NoScript-2.9.5.2 (Latest Release).
=> Flashplayer-11.2.202.644 (as a plugin) (Latest Upstream Release).
=> e10s: "Enabled by default" out of the box - which is one the many usual sick jokes from Mozilla, given that the "about:config" setting for responsible for this in my installation as it came out of the box is:

"browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2"; user set; boolean; "true"

Well, this user never set the above boolean to "true", i.e, I was never asked to opt-in....forgive my gripe, but I'm getting more than rather sick of Mozilla's configuration interface for Firefox & Thunderbird being such a mess, and so insidious and deceitful. Anyhow to continue...
* 2. I did as barbaz suggested in the previous post, I shutdown e10s by changing the above boolean to "false", and confirmed this by re-launching Firefox, and visiting "about:support".
* 3. As a result; Firefox launched a lot faster; ABC-iView allowed me to play a flash video (as they all are at ABC-iView) - in this case I tested it on "Joanna Lumley's Japan", episode 2, and the programme played successfully.
* 4. Success too at SBS-OnDemand. Just a note for my fellow denizens within Australia's borders; SBS-OnDemand is now a right pain in my opinion, due to the totalitarian requirement for us to login to access the programmes, which now means that I have to allow a large list of scripts and objects!!
* 5. Summary so far:
5.1. The two sites mentioned above, fail with my configuration set as outlined in point "1" above.
5.2. Success if I completely remove NoScript-2.9.5.2 (& 2.9.5.1).
5.3. Success if I rollback to NoSript-2.9.0.14.
5.4. Success with my configuration set as outlined in point "1" above (beginning of this post), if used at some other flash based sites such as; NHK World https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/ and Deutsche Welle http://www.dw.com/en/

I forgot to add to my last post, as it was too late in the evening when I wrote it, the following line:

5.5. And of course: Success with configuration as in point "1" in my last post - but with e10s deactivated. See points "2", "3", & "4" in my previous post.

I have since decided to permanently deactivate e10s (for the time being) by adding the following line to my user.js file:

Code: Select all

user_pref("browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2", false);
Having Electrolysis (e10s) activated has been hastening the end of my hardware!!

To me, it would appear that NoScript versions, 2.9.5.1 and 2.9.5.2; are conflicting with Firefox's Electrolysis (e10s).
