Could you copy and paste one of them from Tools|Error Console.
Also, did you try to upgrade to latest development build 1.9.5.6, which should mitigate this issue?

Had the same problem: Big Hosts file with 127.0.0.1 redirects and a 6 line ebay yahoo adserver alert.
The latest Development build fixed it! Thank you.
Win2000 sp4 Firefox 3.5

In the next release, please provide an option to disable/suppress abe notifications.

That's already been done. Install the latest development build.

I am getting the messages too, using latest NoScript, Firefox 3.5 --- very annoying. I am using a hosts file to block ad scripts.

Here is one of the error messages:

[ABE] <LOCAL> Deny on {GET http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/forums.da ... sz=300x250; <<< http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?1 ... 17adf/1841}

@fendertweed:
you did not read the rest of this thread (nor this post) and, most inportant, you're not using latest development build 1.9.5.73.

I will read the link you provided, but in fact I just downloaded and installed the latest development build before testing the page that gave me the URL I put in my post (unless it failed to install properly --- it gave me no hint that it didn't).

I will try to install it again.

... much better, thanks.

Has this been handled to everybody's satisfaction? Since there has been nothing posted in quite a while I assume it has. If not, please contact me at my email address (at the top of my hosts file in hopefully a way a bot cannot read it) and we will discuss it privately for a while.

http://www.securemecca.com/Downloads/hosts.txt

I must say that an error of thinking exists here. Our combination of a very powerful PAC filter (OS neutral, browser neutral, IP specific and the one proposed here will not work) and a RTS hosts file exists to:

1. Stop your machine from going to hosts that can cause severe damage to your machine. This includes malware, spyware, etcetera. There are hosts you want no part of.

2. Stop your machine from even visiting tracking hosts. It isn't enough to just hobble them with NoScript - we want them gone.

3. Stop ads.

I think once that is understood, people will see how this fits into the bigger security picture. I also think it needs to be emphasized that I am recommending NoScript and will not back away from that. So it behooves us to make hosts files, PAC filters, and NoScript work harmoniously together to protect people. As powerful as NoScript is, there are some hosts you just don't want anything to do with, and NoScript won't do that for you. A hosts file, PAC filter, or the WOT will do that for you.
