It won't work.

FF57 only allows extensions built within a different framework from what the existing NoScript uses.

If you need to use it now your best option is to revert to FF56.

Well that sux. Thank you for clarifying that for me, I haven't actually tried it for myself yet. I think I'll hold off for the new version. I agree with everyone though, I don't even want to open my browser without NoScript, I feel extremely vulnerable.

That only works in Firefox Developer Edition.

If you want to have updated Firefox, you should try Firefox 52ESR. All extensions works just fine, NoScript also, and you will receive security updates up to 2018.

I am waiting... In Linux it is easy, just remove Firefox 57 and install Firefox ESR. On my Mac I installed Pale Moon, and we'll see what happens next week. On Windows you'll probably have to do the same.

I've been using NoScript for so long that I didn't realize what the Internet looked like without it. It's as bad or worse than my phone!

Can't wait to again wrap myself in NoScript's warm blanket of protection.

Switched temporary to Firefox ESR Portable with uBlock and NoScript, leaving the installed 57 untouched for the moment.
No hassle with un- and installing Fox again.

- Delete the content in ".\FirefoxPortableESR\Data\profile"
- Copy (not move!) your current profiledata (".\Users\<<USER>>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<<whatever name>>.default" to the profile directory of the portable one.
- Now you have cloned all your current data, sessions, addons, etc...
- Hit "FirefoxPortable.exe"

Will we have to uninstall the old NoScript when the new one arrives or will it take its place as an update?

@4AD, that's a good idea. So we would reverse the process and copy the profile back from ESR portable to FF57 when NoScript is supported? Otherwise, everything done while using Portable would be lost when switching back to 57.

Yes, just copy the data back to 57 when NoScript 10 is available.
Or just use MozBackup, this tool does it for you and supports portables http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/, I prefer to do it manually
I use this method at my job to distribute profiles so I know the people have the right configuration for their specific tasks.

@4AD, unfortunately the rollback to ESR doesn't seem to work properly.
I followed your steps exactly, installing ESR portable in a new folder, and copying the full profile folder from FF57 over to ESR's profile folder.
The ESR portable version definitely picked up some of my profile, because it has my bookmarks bar and other customization.
Unfortunately, it appears that it has taken my Firefox environment back in time few months. I recognize the tabs from what I was working on over the summer.
All history is missing, too. Furthermore, the extensions that were disabled by FF57 are still disabled in ESR, with no apparent way to re-enable them, including NoScript.

I was really hoping they were serious about NoScript for 57 "by the end of the week" - maybe we'll still see it in the next 12 hours or so.

Checked and I might have been too hasty, I'll have to dig some deeper.

But this works and gets you on the way for the moment:
- 57: Save your open tabs in a new directory in bookmarks and export as html (via show all bookmarks => export).
- Portable: import this html-file (via show all bookmarks => import) and select the created directory with the open tabs and choose "open all in tabs" (I'm using a dutch version, so bad translation)
- Portable: if buttons in the interface are missing, just open customize and restore to default.

Yeah, that wouldn't work properly.
