This might save you some time Alan Baxter - from helping with a Vista system recently I've confirmed that the %APPDATA% default path for a Vista user is indeed C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming, as distinct from the default XP one C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data.
It's a hidden directory.

For the OP, is there a possibility that Fx isn't shutting down in an orderly way? ie, could be an idea to firstly use the File>Exit method (not the click the X box or letting the Addons Manager do any restarting or any other method) and then check that there are no Fx processes still running? Just an idea - because if the Addons Manager is corrupt, then it could be badly managing shutting down. I am fairly clueless about most stuff and you should take my butting in for what it's worth - just an attempt to help.

You're right. Thanks. I didn't read the documentation I linked carefully enough.

Good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Use File > Exit to close Firefox. Then use the Task Manager to verify that Firefox isn't still silently running before starting it again.

If your profile still claims it wants to install NoScript, in spite of our efforts to completely remove any trace of it, then it's time to abandon it. Follow the steps I suggested here. Let us know if you have any trouble with the article's instructions.
Alan Baxter wrote:If the deletions I suggested in my recent post don't fix the problem, I suggest creating a new profile, migrating any important data from the old one, and reinstalling your extensions.

Hooray!!! Problem resolved by exiting Firefox via File>Exit then restarting Firefox then uninstalling NoScript Add-On then exiting Firefox again via File>Exit then restarting Firefox then checking Tools>Add-Ons and finding NoScript Extension is "gone with the wind"! Thank you all for your help. Sorry it too so long to get back, just as I got that fixed lightning storm knocked out power for about an hour, (wow poetic!). I have multiple surge protectprs and was running on battery power but using an external screen set to main and IT was on Plug-In power. Wanted to wait until power restored and storm gone before firing it up again. All seems well. Thanks again to all...freebirdwil

Woohoo! Good for you. Are you ready to reinstall NoScript now? :)
Seriously, it's not that hard to use. I hope you'll give it a try when your ready. Even if you decide to run it in Globally Allow mode, NoScript still provides usable protection.

I definetly think it is the best over-all protective software I've seen as it is directly relates to the most common "security holes/entry points". I just need to do a major digest on it before I lock it in. Right now I've got 20 projects for every one brain cell and can't give it any time this week.

Sounds like good prioritization. Good luck with your projects. Did you say 20?
