[RESOLVED] Flashgot doesn't detect Speed Download

Post by TiredofThunderstorms_ »

Can't choose SD from FG preferences, can't manually detect. FG automatic detection doesn't work for SD. When I forced FG to detect SD through FF about:config, FG still didn't work, even though FG indicated that SD was active and selected. FF about:plugins says that the SD plugin is installed and active, but still no go with FG. Put both FF and SD in same application folder, still no go. Disabled all FF Add-ons except FG, still no go. All applications are installed under administrator account under Mac OS X 10.4.11.

Can anybody help? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Key:

FF = Firefox 3.5.2
FG = FlashGot 1.2.0.2
SD = Speed Download 5.2.2

It's working fine for me.
Notice that installation paths mean nothing and the Firefox plugin is unneeded, since FlashGot uses AppleScript automation to control SD.

What does "does not work" exactly mean in your case?
Does SD start if it's not running when you use a FlashGot command?
Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling SD?
At any rate, could you report your FlashGot Options|Advanced|Show log output?

Thanks.

SD does work on its own. Just not with the FG/FF combo. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SD a couple of times. Thanks for helping! Here's the FG log:

Does the file /Users/jellyfish/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/default.myd/FlashGot exist?
If it does, could you delete it and restart Firefox?

OK, I deleted the FlashGot file, restarted Firefox, and then the a new FlashGot file was created.

In case you needed more info: I'm not sure if what you just asked me to do should have helped, but the results remain the same. FG still doesn't detect SD...

Is AppleScript correctly installed and working?
What does the file look like, inside?
What does happen if you open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

/Users/jellyfish/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/default.myd/FlashGot
+ [Enter] manually?

And, yes, AppleScript seems to be working. Folder's open and close. How would I know for sure? It should be working by default, right?

Okay, yes, AppleScript is working properly. Just tried some of the example scripts in the AppleScript folder. Pardon me for not knowing for sure earlier. I'm not familiar with AppleScript.

Problem solved! I've uninstalled and reinstalled FG many times over the past couple of days. Only this time, after uninstalling FG, I went into FF's about:config and deleted all of FG's preferences. I did that by selecting "RESET" for each one. Then I reinstalled FG for the nth time and it now detects SD like it's supposed to. Yay!!! :D

Might want to put that one in your bag of tricks, Giorgio. ;) Thanks again!
