Number of blocked scripts
Number of blocked scripts
How is that number for blocked scripts calculated?
I have a number = 490 but only 4 scripts are shown when i click on the noscript icon.

The counter shows number of blocked <script> tags and such. The NoScript icon shows domains. A single domain can serve multiple scripts.

But why? What is the point, benefit, in that? The counter shows number of blocked <script> tags and such.
And I gather we're talking about places like www.yahoo.com where I'm pretty sure I've seen huge numbers reported.

Re: Number of blocked scripts
Hello.
That's is the question I wanted to ask in the past but since there is a similar topic (if, for example, barbaz will decide there should be a different thread, please do everything You want). I've noticed recently that the number of blocking items on various websites is different from what it was earlier (a few NoScript releases). Honestly, I have no idea when it started to happen.
Anyway, I would like to ask a question about a number of blocked items by NoScript. In the past, for example, on youtube.com website there was about 28. items (<script> and <fonts> etc.) blocked. After moving mouse cursor on NoScript icon - without clicking - it looked this way:
Now, it looks this way:
By default, youtube.com is marked as Trusted. (Other domains needed for youtube to work correctly have Custom preset with <fetch> tag only etc.) And that's happening on every website - lower numbers of blocked items and so on. As I already mentioned: these numbers were different - much higher, in the past.
Is this normal behavior or something is wrong?
Thanks, best regards.
(By the way: I noticed also, that sometimes there is "?" on NoScript icon and I have to reload website via Ctrl + R or via Reload icon - after that, NoScript starts to work okay again.)

Re: Number of blocked scripts
I'm sorry for writing post by post but I wanted to write something about "?" on the NoScript icon. When it appears on a website, moving mouse cursor on NoScript icon shows:
That' all. However, there is one domain, with a Default preset, when I click on NoScript icon! For example: informaction.com. But nothing seems to be blocked - please see above result of moving mouse cursor on NoScript icon etc. Anyway, when website is refreshed/reloaded everything is changing - there is no more "?" only script count badge. And here is a result of moving mouse cursor on NoScript icon (without clicking):
And that's happening on a random websites: "?" and no script count badge etc. I have to reload website and so on.
Once again: I'm sorry for post by post :- (
Code: Select all
NoScript 10.1.8.1

Most of the time there is a number (and site never works when that is the case)
even when every entry in drop-down is trusted,
This is not an annoyance, it is a breaker. There is no recourse,
the only way to use such sites (MANY) is to disable NoScript.

Guest, how have you configured your Trusted preset? (NoScript Options > General, click "Trusted" tab)Guest wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 2:20 pm 10.2.1

I have the same concern. In my case, the Trusted preset is "everything checked" (I've never even looked at it before, so never changed it. Same for Default and Untrusted presets). Most of the time there is a number (and site never works when that is the case)

Re: Number of blocked scripts
Have you got an example page (and configuration) to demonstrating this?

Re: Number of blocked scripts
I'm encountering this issue currently on workday.com. Noscript 11.2.19. Noscript detects workday.com and myworkdaycdn.com. I've allowed both.
However, the noscript badge still shows 1 blocked script and the site isn't loading. The only way to use this site is to switch to a private session or disable noscript. I'd like to know how to see what noscript is blocking...

Guest, that is a different issue, specific to NoScript 11.2.16/11.2.19 on Chromium-based browsers, probably viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26518
