Download Manager settings

Post by Alan Baxter »

I'm currently using FlashGet classic, Version 1.73 Build 128. It seems to work well for the simple downloading I currently do. I downloaded Free Download Manager last night. If I recall correctly, it was recommended at one time to disable the downloads manager's built-in support for Firefox and that it was necessary to leave the IE support enabled. Is this still the case? I couldn't find a definitive answer in either the FlashGot Features or FAQ pages.

Here are my current settings. Are they correct?
FlashGet Options > Monitor > Browser Clicks
Untick Netscape Navigator 4.5/5.x
Tick Internet Explorer Method 2

FDM Settings > Monitoring
Tick Internet Explorer
Untick Firefox
Untick Add FDM to the browser context menu

What you stated (in first paragraph) sounds correct. Generally all download managers would follow the same rule.

Specifics (to FDM) I would not know about.

I just wanted to verify the rule still holds: "disable the download manager's built-in support for Firefox and leave the IE support enabled". Thank you for verifying the rule still holds. How to implement that in the settings seems pretty clear to me, but if anyone notices they're wrong, please let me know.
