NoScript 10, any more like 5 yet?

Post by 10Like5Yet »

I used to love the NoScript 5 versions, and I stuck with ESR for quite a while to keep the old NoScript UI. Firefox ESR has now become based on firefox 60 rather than 52, so I've little choice but to move if I want to keep getting security updates. Any chance that NoScript 10's UI might move back a little towards what we had in NoScript 5 any time soon. I recognise that Mozilla handled the whole situation about as badly as they possibly could by enforcing a change where they only enabled the new Quantum (NoScript 10 like) API for addons at the same time as they dumped support for normal (NoScript 5 like) addons without leaving a few firefox versions of breather time between the enabling of the quantum API and the disabling of the old one. So I know the mess is Mozilla's fault, not yours, but just wondered if you'd found time to try to restore the new UI towards being like the old one. Or found time to make a full piece of documentation for NoScript 10, the only things I can find seem to be partial guides scattered across several forum posts and NoScript 10 might have changed a bit since they were written. Keep up the great work.

P.S. Girogio's hackademix blog can no longer take comments, it's flashing up a CAPTCHA on his old posts, but the CAPTCHA just shows an error message and reCAPTCHA v1 being shutdown rather than giving you text which you can type in to allow posting

Unfortunately the old UI, and anything that behaves like the XUL menus of NoScript Classic, is not technically possible in WebExtensions.

I don't think there is any official NoScript 10 documentation yet. This unofficial guide is the most up-to-date one I know of - https://blog.jeaye.com/2017/11/30/noscript/
But some things were introduced since then, so if you have questions after reading that guide feel free to ask.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!
