[Resolved] NoScript v10: layout of the graphical interface.

Post by fenix »

Hello.

I have one short question regarding NoScript v10 Settings and so called GUI. Thanks to the author (unfortunately, I do not know his name or nick, sorry!) of a really amazing guide (please see [1]), I've noticed an interesting arrangement of the NoScript options etc. It looks this way:

Image
This photo comes from Author's mentioned Guide

As we can see, everything is in one place, right? I mean preset customizations, site permissions etc. However, NoScript v10 on one of my testing computer looks slightly, completely different. There is a four tabs in Settings, as we all know it:

1/ General tab (with preset customization and two options: disable restrictions and temporarily set top-level sites...);
2/ Per-Site Permissions tab (with domains list and with the possibility of adding next ones);
3/ Appearance tab (allows to change several settings, such as displaying script count badge etc.);
4/ Advanced tab (there's a debug button allowing changes to the JSON configuration for NoScript and so on).

So, why above picture shows a different look? Why there - on a picture - is not a four tabs with different options to change how NoScript v10 works? Maybe it depends on an Operating System? Maybe NoScript v10 looks exactly this way but on Windows systems? I have no idea, because for now, I'm using a testing computer with Linux and there are four tabs etc.

I don't want to write, which layout is better. However, that layout presented on a picture is pretty nice. I mean 'Site permissions' and 'Preset customization' in one place etc. So, what is the reason for a different NoScript v10 look? Maybe I'm wrong and everything is the same, on all Operating Systems and "Guide" Author made his own layout?

Geez, what a shame. I know, that it's a very naive question. Sorry.

Thanks, best regards.

That screenshot shows an old version of NoScript. If you scroll down a bit in the article you linked you'll see an updated screenshot.

Hi barbaz.

Thanks for an answer. Yes, I know that. There is even a short statement: "In the 10.1.7.x branch, the layout has been edited one more time". In the light of such words, I would like to apologize for my so stupid question. However, I've never had seen such NoScript v10 layout! Never. I mean this one from a picture in my first post. There always had been tabs in "Settings" etc. That's how I remember that. But maybe I'm wrong? Never mind... it's not important now.

barbaz, can You mark this thread as 'Solved' or maybe remove?

Thanks, best regards.
