[Resolved] 5kb files

OK, FG worked fine till my computer crashed so I do know how to use it. Since I have reloaded all my software to the same (repaired) computer, all I get are these 5 kb files and not the files I am trying to DL. I have no idea why it isn't acting as before. I use a PC and have the Flasgot plugin for Orbit Downloader. What the hell is going wrong? I can click on a link and it will "Create a New Download" but that defeats the purpose of selecting a load of links at once and walking away as it does it's job. Any ideas ? I'm going mad here! Have I forgotten to select a certain setting?

Are all those files from the same host?
If so, which?
And what's the content of the 5Kb files?

They are all Rapidshare files. I have no idea what the little files are. They sure aren't my data.... Do you want me to click on properties and see?

they are WinRAR archive files, barely 5 kb in size.

If the links are vaid, most likely either

1. You're not logged in your Rapidshare Premium account or
2. You disabled Internet Explorer's cookies, which are needed for FlashGot passing them to Orbit

I am def logged in ( I put all log in info in already) so I assume # 2 might be it. I will try to enable cookies via Explorer. Is this still valid if I am using FF only? I assume I do this in settings on My Computer somewhere?

Another thing you may want to check is whether RapidShare have the "Direct links" options enabled: it is mandatory for FlashGot to work.

Yes, that is checked ok. I use FF only, how do I accept cookies in IE?

Still doesn't work after update..

I can direct downloads fine if I cut and paste the link into the address bar
Correct password is in
Cookies enabled

Worked fine until the recent update of firefox.

Yes you are.

OK, then what is your problem? What download manager are you using? What service are you downloading from? If you use IE, does it work?

If it works by pasting the link directly into the download manager, then it could be just the opposite that you are looking for.
FlashGot is sending the referrer & cookie. Try blocking both of those & see if the download then works.

On some sites that hotlink videos from other (video) services, you are then blocked from downloading the video if the referrer is from http://www.some.foreign.domain.com/. If you remove the referrer, the download proceeds.

Hi-

I'm also one who is experiencing the small file issue. My issue is 14kb files instead of full files-

Firefox (latest update d/l'ed yesterday)
FlashGot (latest update)
Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) (full version)
Premium Rapidshare (RS) account (set to direct d/l)
Cookies enabled

I'm d/l'ing RARs from RS with links I've copied and pasted into DAP's URL bar when I get the small files. I've highlighted/dragged/dropped into DAP's d/l basket to the same effect.

When the link is a true hyperlink, however, if will d/l the entire file without problem.

Open the files in a text editor.
What is inside? (I'll suspect html code. And if so, if you open the file in your browser, what does it say?)
Will the same links work correctly in IE?

Wonder if it is not a DAP issue? Perhaps DAP is not able to pass cookie or similar.
If you use a different download manager, does the problem persist?

What version of DAP?
Do you have ""DAP|Options|Advanced|Integrate into Mozilla/Firefox browser" enabled?
