NoScript menu doesn't appear

Post by tkzv2 »

When I try to enable sites in NoScript, sometimes only the top of the menu appears very briefly (the top row of icons: "reload", "revoke all temporary permissions" and such). Thus, I can't allow scripts and frames on some sites. Seems to have started when NoScript updated several hours ago.

Firefox 57.0, Linux AMD64. NoScript version 10.17.1. Problematic sites include yandex.ru, universesandbox.com, store.steampowered.com, www.humblebundle.com.

Just an attempt (it should not be necessary with WebExtensions, but whatever): did you already try to restart your browser?

Yes, that was the first thing I tried. It didn't help.

Version 10.1.6 works fine and it's still possible to set up sites in global NoScript settings for 10.1.7.

Also, I noticed that when I switch yandex.ru to default, the menu starts working for it. When I set up custom parameters, it starts disappearing again. Other sites refused to appear even with default parameters.

Unrelated problem with the site: Recaptcha warns about its V1 API being obsolete and scheduled for removal.

I meant "At other sites it refused to appear even with default parameters."

OK, could you please use NoScript Options>Export and send me an email with your exported configuration file (the address is on the top right of https://maone.net), then try NoScript Options>Reset and see whether it helps?
Thanks.

Hello,
not OP, but I had the same problem just now. Options>reset did work for me, the dropdown menu is working again. Unfortunately I forgot to export beforehand so I can't send you my configuration :(

Firefox 57.0, Win 7 x64, NoScript Version 10.1.7

Best Regards!

Correction: Menu works on all websites I've tested so far (Facebook.com, Netflix.com, Youtube.com, imgur.com, etc.) but not on www.reddit.com, even after the reset. I will send you my configuration just on the offchance that it helps finding the problem. :)

(P.S. : I was expecting the reset would completely erase my per-site-permissions, but all my "allowed" sites we're still in the list as far as I could tell. Is that intended?)

Another update: Reddit does work now, too. It seems to have been a conflict between NoScript and the Reddit Enhancement Suite-Addon. After disabling that, the dropdown menu would be showing normally.

Bottom line: resetting did fix it for me.

Thanks.
I can't send this file, because it gets blocked as spam :)

But it really doesn't matter, because I get the same result after reset. When I reset everything, go to yandex.ru/maps and enable "script" for "yandex.ru" domain (temporarily or permanently) and click outside the menu to reload the page, the menu stops working.

Do you really need the config file? I'm waiting for answer from tech support right now. If you need it, I'll send it later today.

Hi,
I am having the same problem. It doesn't happen on all sites. One example is https://www.thesteamery.com.au/. I am using FF Proton & just reinstalled NoScript, as well as resetting NS & restarting FF(which often works). I will send you the config script.

So far, everyone reporting this problem seems to be using Firefox 57. If you upgrade Firefox to the latest version (59.0.1 at time of writing), does the problem persist?
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

1. The FF version is Quantum. Proton DNE
2. I can't send an email to [removed by moderator] but [removed by moderator] worked so far. Just in case, here is the file. Apologes for clogging up the forum
