urls in url bar always go to new tab page

using firefox 58.0.1, noscript 10.1.6.4, fedora 26

whenever i type a url into the url bar and hit enter, it just goes to the new tab page. disabling noscript fixed this.

Does disabling all the other extensions except NoScript help?
If it does, please try Standard Diagnostic|sd and let us know, thanks.
