Not Enough Storage Space Is Available To Process The Command

Not Enough Storage Space Is Available To Process The Command
IRP Stack Size.

Been there done that.

Not enough server storage to process command?
Not enough server storage to process command - Revisit
No more IRP stack locations?

But that was over a DECADE ago.

YET...

Of late, I've been hitting it again...?

Win7 x64
Intel i5-3570, on-CPU video, HD 4000 graphics
SeaMonkey 2.49.1 x64
Firefox 56 x64
NoScript current #dev

Changes?

Just the other day, put in MS .NET 4.7.
Other then that... nothing really.
I've been messing with FF a bit. Certainly more then I have in the past.

With FF, in relatively short order, I can eat RAM.
Good chunks of RAM. 5, 6, 7, 8 GB of RAM.
- Is that "right", does that make sense?
In some respects no, but possibly?
My (Session Restore) has grown - quickly. From a window or two, to now where I've got many (count will have to wait).
Extensions are minimal. Combination of Legacy & hybrid & webex.

Anyhow, out of the blue, recently (& where I've noticed the issue), I'll click on a media file (movie clip), & my media player, MPlayer (using the MPUI GUI) spits out, "not enough storage space is available to process the command". MPUI hangs, I have to kill it. At this time MPC / MPC-BE also spit out error messages (different, I'll have to update...) & may or may not play a particular media file.

I close FF (I have not seen the issue with SeaMonkey) & what didn't work a moment ago, now works as expected.
Note that with FF, while I am specifically , though not necessarily wantonly, "pushing" FF more so then what I am (currently) with SeaMonkey.

I don't think I'm seeing anything in (Windows) Event Viewer.

Is this a new "feature" of FF?

FWIW, @B, on mozillazine, has harped about uBo, recommending remaining with 1.13.8, for the time being, but I don't recall his reasons?

MPC / MPC-BE also spit out error messages (different, I'll have to update...) & may or may not play a particular media file
ffplay:

MPC-BE / MPC:

MPC typically will play after displaying the message.
MPC-BE typically will not play after display the message.

Media Player Classic Error code: 0x8876086A
Haven't looked into what it says - yet.
But even if it "fixes" it, IMO, that is not the point.
(Plus MPlayer would not be "fixed" by a change in MPC.)
Something happened to cause this to manifest itself.

Is it FF? .NET 47? or?

(On a whim...)

And in that respect, what I've done so far is to disable Hardware Acceleration (layers.acceleration.disabled;true), restarted, & with that, I've been running a few days [4, at this point] now (including sleep cycles), & ATM FF is (only) using 3.9 GB (having only hit that, from ~3 GB, over the last 24 hours). At ~3 GB, FF was running fine.

Currently I'm noticing some slight slowness.
(It is time for a restart, but I want to thrash it some more.)

I'd close some (many) extraneous tabs (40 windows, 937 tabs, at present), to see how/if RAM drops, but I'm somewhat hampered by, Taskbar Icons are Reordered when open from Session Restore, so at some point I'll just Quit, then reopen from Session Restore.

Also, I have & have had SeaMonkey open, using ~1.5 GB RAM.
And I (accidentally) opened an other (rather huge too) FF Profile, FF 54, perhaps it was, 32-bit - without NoScript installed, & that (eventually, 17 min, I think it was) crashed, OOM [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... d6f0171017].

Anyhow, during this time, other then slowness in FF 56 (probably understandable, well, not actually), I've not run into any irregularities outside of FF (like with my movie players).

So, with FF 56 (x64 as it is, can't really say about other versions or bitness), on my system, it seems to eat RAM FAR quicker & to a much greater degree, then I'm seeing once I've turned hardware acceleration off.

56.0.2 came out.
Some of the fixes sounded interesting.
So I turned Hardware Acceleration back on...

And in short order, I'm up to 4 GB RAM, & once again external apps are screwing up.

(Time to switch HA off again, sigh.)

Since we're here, I will say this issue completely subsided with "Quantum" (FF 57+).
So, there, there is one good thing that can be said about Quantum.

I will say this issue completely subsided with "Quantum" (FF 57+).
I knew I should not have said that ;-).

This has now happened in FF 58.
NoScript 10.1.6.4rc4.

Now, WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE (much less any clue as to what I'm talking about)...

I'll just state that there were numerous (a dozen or so is numerous enough for) queued up XSS warnings - which I hadn't realized, which I do not think came up on browser startup (from Session Restore) - which I've come to expect...

This time when I started up, there seem to only be one XSS warning, which I dismissed.
(Usually I get multiple XSS warnings on startup, which I simply dismiss, consecutively.)
And FF seemed to load faster (actually settle down faster, as in initial higher CPU load dropped down to more "regular" CPU load, faster).

Somewhere along the line, one again, external video player was failing.
First thought was it was a corrupted clip. But then I'm getting the same on various clips.
And I think, oh, I hope my drive isn't going bad.
So I try another player, & again more odd error messages &/or playback failures.

And I check RAM & CPU [usage], & I've only got 1 browser open (FF, where I usually have more), & otherwise nothing special going on. FF RAM is "OK". CPU is "OK", but I'm seeing what I expect is unexpected I/O, on the main FF process, & its immediate child.

So thinking its some fart in FF, & I'm going to be left with shutting it down & restarting it.

It is then when I realize that the last FF "window" was not a window, but was a queued up set of XSS warnings - which I gleefully dismissed without looking at - at all.

I also refreshed a few pages that I saw failed to load, properly.
They were, oh... maybe they run through some cloud "proxy" type of thing, that say something like "inaccessible at present" with a prompt to refresh. I manually refreshed those few pages, which then did load as expected.

Then went I clicked on the video clip that was failing on me - in my video player, totally external to any browser, which opened right up & played, as expected. Likewise with others I had just attempted to play that had just failed now played as expected.

So FF, even FF 58, is still affecting "things", things external to FF.
Perhaps an extension is contributing to the issue?

It is then when I realize that the last FF "window" was not a window, but was a queued up set of XSS warnings
I see what's happening with that.
If you happen to not catch (i.e. miss) the first XSS warning window, all subsequent XSS warning windows simple queue up - silently, as pop-unders, if you will, "under" that initial pop-up (XSS window).

(You might say its a malicious-like behavior.)

A few moments after dismissing some 31 queued XSS windows:

Code: Select all

firefox.exe, 7196, 11.69, 424.96 kB/s, 1,310.34 MB, RUBEN-W7-X64\RUBEN, Firefox, 1,546.5 MB, Medium, ASLR, 64

and with focus removed from FF.

And external videos once again play.
And expect that I'll be fine until...

Did the OP ever figure out what was going on here, cause it just hit me too!

Waterfox 56.2 x64
1.2 GB RAM
Parent & 2 Child process
Children have I/O, 125 kB/s, each
Multiprocess enabled (forced, I suppose you might say?) 2/2
Web Content Processes 1/1

Addons Manager Version Number 1.5
Copy On Select 0.1.1
FlashGot 1.5.6.14rc1
NoScript 5.1.8.5rc2 (this is my hacked version, https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... 050#p96050)
uBlock Origin 1.16.4.1
(all are Legacy, nonetheless Multiprocess is enabled)

Started with a new Profile
A few minor Pref changes
Added extensions & restarted a number of times

1 window (a new low for me)
30 tabs
In 24 of the tabs I (purposely) opened video clips
Some I started playback & then paused the clip
Others I did not even click the Play button
(FlashGot [Media] may or may not have "registered" the media content on the ones I did not click Play)

Well, that was enough, in a very short period of time, to bring about the conditions the OP had.

A couple weeks back, Waterfox still, a different Profile, using more RAM, pushed (IMO) much harder then what I've done so far, caused no issues. Seems that that session had more multiprocess windows, though I suppose that is because at the time, I had oh, probably 18 or so windows opened (& many more tabs), compared to the 1 window currently.
(So... maybe purposely opening multiple windows may have some benefit... ?)

And I betcha, without closing any (programs), only by closing some of those 24 tabs with videos, things will start to right themselves...

A process Thread, Cycles delta, any clue what that is means?
WF may be using oh, maybe a million (or is it 2 million) of those hummers, spread out over various dll/exe (I guess you might say), in 2 processes.

SeaMonkey, single process, with 19 window (& untold number of tabs) is using 200,000/500,000 Cycles delta, jumping back & forth in that range.

things will start to right themselves...
Closed 12 of those 24 video tabs, arbitrarily, & issue (external video players failing to play video clips) is gone.

RAM is down minimally, 1 GB. CPU & I/O usage is about the same too.
These Cycles delta (kind of difficult to determine, sum) could very well be similar too.

Earlier stint with WF was running for days on end, no restart.
This one, started today, new, & in very short period of time, was causing issues external to the browser.

Scratches head... Maybe the OP can help me out here.
