Identical Entries in Options, One Green and One Red

Post by Skeezix »

Why do I have two entries in my Options screen for "...mozillazine.org" and why does one of them have a green lock and the other a red lock?

Are the two entries set the same? If so, the green lock one is redundant, mozillazine is only plain HTTP.

I understand. I was just wondering why NS put in identical entries for this one site. None of the other sites have identical-looking entries.

When I clicked on the green lock, the site having the green lock disappeared.

I wish I could make other sites in the list disappear. I accidentally went to www.baris.com, and now that one is listed (although I marked it as Untrusted). Is there any way I can make it disappear from the list?

Set it to Default, and it will be gone when you leave or reload the options page.

I found the same problem (barbaz called it a redundant entry).

I opened this site:
support.amd.com

then clicked the NoScript icon. The dropdown list had a red entry for:
... amd.com

and also a black entry for:
... amd.com

Both entries were set to the Default button.

If one of these entries is redundant (the black one?), then does that mean there is a bug that causes the redundant entry (the black one?) to be displayed??

Those aren't redundant. If they are actually set rules, THEN they are redundant.

If you look below these two you will find :
http://support.amd.com
https://www.amd.com

This means those two specifically want to run scripts. If you create the black ....amd.com rule it will still block thesecond first one (edit my bad, the first one is http), because you created a https only rule.
If you create the red one both will be allowed.
When they show as default, they are "choices", not rules. Rules means there is an entry in the debug output in the options for them.
Rules can be redundant (but shouldn't be, but sometimes are when you make some that already got imported from a previous install). Which means you have 2 rules, one of which already includes the other.
The choices are overlapping by choice, because Noscript tries to guess which different kind of choices would be what you want specifically.

THANK YOU Pansa for your explanation regarding identical (except for color) entries in the drop down list:
