firefox incompatibility

Post by fogey »

I had to uninstall Firefox 57 and go back to 54. When I try to download NoScript, I get a warning saying it's not compatible with 54. What version can I install and where can I find it?

Fogey, I think if you go back to a Firefox version earlier than 57, you need to uninstall NoScript 10 to be able to install version 5.1.8.3.

Thanks for the response, but I never got 57 to run long enough to install NoScript. I'm running Firefox 54 on a newly-refurbished Win 10 computer that has never had any version of Firefox or NoScript installed on it.

You can't "just" switch from Firefox 57 to Firefox 54. You'll need to create a new profile in Firefox 54, then transfer only the important data to it per this link - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... _-_Firefox

More info - https://www.ghacks.net/2017/08/02/you-c ... -profiles/

Looks like I spoke too soon--apparently Firefox auto-updated, despite my having updates turned off.

So, I update my request:

I AM RUNNING FIREFOX 56 RIGHT NOW.

How. Can. I. Install. NoScript?

I am NOT going to try 57 again.

I-know-what-you-are-asking. Lose the yelling and extra periods.

If you cannot install NoScript from the link bo elam posted, then your profile is corrupt and you need to follow the instructions in my post.

Thank you.

It would have been REALLY helpful if someone had mentioned that 5.1.8.3 was compatible with versions other than 52 ESR.

You mean like this? :

Earlier than 57.... Install 5.1.8.3.

It would have been helpful to not just skip the help, and jumping on half of it to ignore it, and then repeat the question...
