[RESOLVED] Options setting to display all blocked sites

Post by bgudgel »

Hi guys and gals...

I've searched and cannot seem to find the answer so will post the question...

How do I setup Noscript so that it always displays blocked sites ?

I would like for the menu to show all blocked sites if possible. This will also
tell me what the page I am on is linking to and what ad sites are being used.

Also, My setup also appears to be allowing all new sites that I go to as default.

I am using Firefox version 51.0.1 (32-bit) as it supports some web cam plugins
that newer FF does not support. Using Noscript 5.1.8.2

Thanks for any input on how to tell Noscript how to display the sites being used.

Err, it does. What makes you think some blocked sites are missing?

Well, for example I just now went to a site that was blocked, showing the almost solid red Noscript icon and clicking the down-arrow that usually shows blocked and allowed sites did not show anything at all.

I had to click on the Noscript icon itself to make it go away. I did not do anything else or dig deeper into the options this time.

Noscript has worked before as it should. Seems the last year or so it sometimes shows allowed and blocked domains and sometimes does not.

Earlier today while on an external web site I clicked on the S icon and it showed on top to forbid file:// etc. rather than a domain name.
It's not right. This laptop is a fairly newer one (windows 7) but last laptop showed similar anomolies.

something's not working right but it is mostly not showing me all the dependent sites in the drop-down list or showing in the last example, wrong URL types.

Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript Classic latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, it's not a NoScript issue... try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.

Let us know, thanks.

OK, just uninstalled Noscript, restarted FF and re-installed 5.1.8.2 that is compatible with FF version 51 32 bit...

So far so good except that every site I go to is NOT forbidden. I would expect to have to allow the sites
first time to build a list.

Looks like uninstalling Noscript does not get rid of the whitelisted sites I added when I first installed on this machine.

Tried Control-A and then removing selected sites but it cacked on that. Too many to select I guess.

I can try to find where Noscript is hiding so that I can delete that directory I suppose. I may have to
try installing on another laptop that doesn't have Firefox on it yet and see what happens there, too.

Thanks

I had a new-ish windows 7 laptop I needed to add Firefox to so I did that and also added Noscript.
Same earlier versions of Noscript and Firefox version 51 32 bit...

It appears to work fine. As I would expect it. NO previous Noscript history.
All is as it should be... I DO notice the default allowed sites that come with it like Google etc.

OK so now back to this semi-new laptop evidently with history still in place that I have not tried further to
remove other than uninstalling and reinstalling Noscript on. (maybe I need to reinstall firefox ?)

It MAY be that since I have placed a lot of sites in the UNTRUSTED category that they just don't show
up in the list without going to the untrusted menu. That is probably my biggest issue that is not really
an issue.

I have one local file that I use for my default web page but here is an example of a web site and
the noscript pulldown showing.

Why would it show " S forbid file://" at the top ?

I captured a pic of the menu but I guess I cannot upload an image here.

I did what you said and uninstalled Noscript and reinstalled.

I asked how to get rid of the allowed sites after this and I haven't heard how to do that.

The settings are evidently still in place.

The only problem I see now I think is that I sometimes have to enable scripts globally because
I sometimes cannot tell what is blocking a video from being played and things like that.

Err, no, I did not suggest uninstalling and reinstalling NoScript.

Split the post asking about NoScript 10 to https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... =7&t=24189. The OP of this thread is using NoScript Classic, issues with NoScript 10 are not relevant to this thread.

Well, I am happy with it once again. Looks like my issue had to do with my export to NS backup
and import to those last two laptops. Most likely because of mixed up versions of Firefox
and Noscript.

I did change to a new and clean profile, installed the "Classic" Noscript as suggested and
it looked as I expected it to. I think copied only the WHITELIST (a LOT of sites) portion over the one
in the clean .TXT NS file. Next I may copy the untrusted sites in the old backup but for
now all looks great.

Thank you for the help ! I guess I did not know or did not remember that there was a "classic" Noscript.
I think I prefer it.
