Scripts remain blocked on some trusted sites

Post by Derpnick »

First of all I would like to thank you for taking on the task of updating to WebExtensions! I really appreciate you putting in the time. It must be a lot of work rewriting everything. NoScript has been essential for me for quite a while and I would hate to loose it with the noXUL extension update.

I randomly get scripts blocked entirely using the new version of NoScript for Firefox 57 Quantum on some websites. I haven't been able to reproduce it on all sites, sometimes toggling "match HTTPS content only" on/off solves it but not always.

Keep up the good work updating to the new Firefox, thanks again :)
EDIT: I also tried installing the latest Developer version from https://noscript.net/getit but the issue remains.
EDIT2: The current developer download link appears to be broken https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... 1.3rc2.xpi

Here is an example with animation:

I see the same FWIW. Only disabling NoScript gets rid of that message.

I notice that, both in your animation and in my testing, NoScript's icon continues to indicate that scripts are blocked, no matter the actual permission status of the site. Even Allow Scripts Globally doesn't change this.

Possible NoScript bug?
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

After some comparision:

1. The message is spawned by the [noscript]tag on the page.
2. On the other hand everything that looks like a script works regardless of the message. Popup menus, the player (well first time it wants the source of the videos as separate scripts)
searchbox . I can't find something that doesn't work in comparison with having noscript disabled in the Addons. (Although I can't get the login applet to work even WITH noscript disabled.....(edit: found it, the one that doesn't work is with a card-reader which I obviously don't have ^^)

3. When I run it with Noscript enabled but page allowed inspecting with F12 shows some weird token based BS that is commented out that isn't even there when running it with no script disabled.

Sidenote : Thanks for whoever wrote that sourcecode. All in one line with no indentation. easy to parse......

So basically conclusion:
Noscript does what it is supposed to, it allows the script and the site works.
But for some reason the site thinks JS is deactivated, although it most definitely isn't.
If you disallow the page it doesn't even load.

edit:
in regards to edit 2:

And the one you linked was particularly flawed, which is why it was taken down.
