10.1.3c1 no better
10.1.3c1 no better
New version, so I put NoScript back on my main machine to check. It's getting worse...
When I click the S icon I get a small window/popup showing only the Close/Reload/Options/Revoke/Allow buttons. Clicking them does nothing. When I close the window by clicking outside it, an empty popup similar to the empty XSS popups appears.
The settings seem to be still there, because several sites that are known to require scripts work, but they're not accessible in any way.

Same here. Although I allow everything Trusted on eg. hotmail.com it don't even open.
I would say this is even worse, because with v.1.2 hotmail at least gave an error message. (But did not however open.)

Yeah, same problem here. Had to disable it while we wait for another new version!

I just want to know one thing:
- Will we have auto-reload after changes back or is it gone for good?

Works fine over here.Quest wrote:Same here. Although I allow everything Trusted on eg. hotmail.com it don't even open.

Could you be more specific what you practically mean with "allow everything Trusted on hotmail.com?
Have you checked the "capabilities" section of the trusted section in the debug output to actually mean "trusted" allows all scripts?
I had to throw out a lot of "old" rules because now (yeeeeiii) subdomain filtering is back, but overall 10.1.3c1 is most of what I wanted (for the time being, except autoreload, that still doesn't work despite being addressed in the changelog)

Re: 10.1.3c1 no better
Agreed, everything working fine so far with 10.1.3rc1, except for the auto-reload - which is a regression from the first release. (have to use the green reload button instead of just clicking away.) Still looking for bugs of course, but so far 10.1.3rc1 seems to have eliminated a couple of biggies (or at least changed their default beaviour). A lot better now...Pansa wrote:I had to throw out a lot of "old" rules because now (yeeeeiii) subdomain filtering is back, but overall 10.1.3c1 is most of what I wanted (for the time being, except autoreload, that still doesn't work despite being addressed in the changelog)

1. Put Default: nothing allowed (no box checked), Trusted: everything allowed (every boxes checked).
2. Empty Options pages list by turning links Default.
I believe that 1&2 are what is meant by "clean install" of NoScript?
3. When I go to Hotmail.com there only appears an error message. (Don’t know what it is in English but something about integrity.)
4. When I change Default’s boxes checked, Hotmail works and many links appear on the “NoScript button menu”. I click them all Trusted.
5. Uncheck Default's boxes. Go to Hotmail.
6. Hotmail shows only that blue Outlook logo. But some new links appear to NoScript. I turn them Trusted.
Nothing new happens …
It's not only Hotmail. Other sites do open but apparently scripts are not working there either although I turn everything I see to Trusted.

From 3 to 4 is an interesting way.Quest wrote:

First thing btw that going to hotmail.com does is redirect me to
https://outlook.live.com/owa/
I get an empty page and clicking on the no script icon shows me eight entries (It is an empty page because all my default settings are empty, and the site does not actually deliver any HTML document)
in pairs of two (like https://outlook.live.com and ...live.com) these pairs are basically the difference between "this specifically" and "everything by that domain".
When I set a rule for one in the pair, on reload it "reduces" to one, because they concern the same thing.
>4. When I change Default’s boxes checked, Hotmail works
Where do you do that, and why? If it is in the popup-ui, that means there is already "an" entry, right? why don't you set that to "trusted" in the first place?
And just to be safe, after changing anything you have to press either the green circle arrow at the top off the UI or manually reload the page to make changes active.
Also, what are the checkmarks in "trusted" set to, when you set something TO trusted, and could you verify those settings by going to the "proper options" and look at the "debug" output under "trusted"{capabilities

Re: 10.1.3c1 no better
Now I at last did and result is:Pansa wrote: Have you checked the "capabilities" section of the trusted section in the debug output to actually mean "trusted" allows all scripts?
"TRUSTED": {
"capabilities": [
"media",
"frame",
"font",
"fetch",
"object",
"other",
"webgl"
]
So there is no "script" there. But there is no way to put it there either? The "Trusted boxbar" has script checked (but grayed so you can't remove it either) and writing to to that debug-window seems not to work either.
So this supposedly is not what is meant? I apparently have to totally reset Noscript, but removing it from Firefox has not helped. Or is this some kind of bug that can be fixed in NoScript itself?

Re: 10.1.3c1 no better
You should be able to write in that debug window.
Maybe if you globally allow scripts at the top?
Also: the capabilities should be in order they are in the checkboxes, but I guess that doesn't matter.
And also check the "untrusted" capabilities, those should be empty.
But yes, some users have had issue with the (for obvious reasons) greyed out checkmark boxes.
Somehow due to a combination of migrating through the releases as well as a bug in 10.1.1 settings that SHOULD be unchangeable got lost in the config (I had a "script" capability in "untrusted" without me knowing it)
If you can copy the output for later use, or don't have your heart set on your existing white/blacklist, one user reported that a problem with the debug output went away after removing all rules (setting them to default and then restarting FF).
As far as I know there is no easy way to reset the NS config other than the debug window or starting from a fresh profile (run firefox -p to create a secondary profile to test), because the config is saved in a database file, which would probably require advanced sql knowledge to work with.

I had this forum's link there and and I messed with it's buttoms.
I changed Defaults to get into Hotmail and make any of it's links appear in NoSript.

Yes I have done that several times.

Every box is checked, but "script" doesn't exist on debug list. (See previous post.)
PS. Looks like you answered to the previous post. I have all scripts globally allowed because "nothing" works without it. I've cleared the whitelist and restarted firefox (and computer).
Really I can write to that debug window, but the writing disappears when I refresh the page or go out and back.

If you have set the "scripts globally allowed" option, you shouldn't need to set the "default" values to allow on top of that.Quest wrote:PS. Looks like you answered to the previous post. But that is beside the point now.
I would really just make a secondary firefox profile,
install No script in there.
Copy the "clean" config from the debug log
And paste it in your main profile after switching back.
In general you should "never" change the default checkmarks, but (basically as you did in ns5) step by step allow or temp allow the script sources that you want.

Re: 10.1.3c1 no better
Just jumping in to say I'm also seeing odd behavior with the latest.
While it looks like some of the worst things are now fixed (defaults reverting and getting mixed up with custom), other things are still not quite functioning as expected.
Setting anything under custom, or setting temporarily allow in neither temporary, nor remembered in custom tab for a domain.
Temporary doesn't "stick" for me, either upon a reload, or a re-launch. None of the options selected are remembered after reload or re-launch.
Two steps forward, one back, it seems.

Re: 10.1.3c1 no better
Well, it's more like ten steps back for me.
As I wrote in the first posting in this thread: there is nothing for me to set. Every NoScript related window only has some "window furniture" at the top - if any - and no content at all.
I get the impression this has something to do with the number of items in the database. Opening the Options window and scrolling down used to lock Firefox solid here. I never got as far as the debug section. Maybe NoScript is now simply ignoring a database with more than a certain number of items (mine is most likely rather large, as I've been using NoScript for well over a decade).
Could be something else entirely of course. I don't know. All I know is I can't make any changes to anything.
