x10 yucky interface!.. and where is temporary permissions

Post by davidpbrown »

Big thanks to the devs for getting the update out.. but DAMN the interface sucks!

Bring back the old or wonder at least at the difference.. where's the simple allow and forget temporary permissions?..
The suite of options settings seem to have disappeared.. is it really now just a simple list of site permissions??!

I'm hoping this is a temporary fix, for getting the update out :?
It's so much harder to see quickly the sites that are allowed and denied.
I know a lot of work must have gone in to the change but user experience degraded to a point that a competitor could arise and snap up the opportunity.

At least bring back the whilelist as a simple list that can be deleted from quickly.

That is already there, but it's not very obvious. Select Default permission for the sites you want to delete, and when you reload the options page they will be gone.

I saw that quick enough but it's hard to make out what order the list is in.

The apparent loss of per tab temporary permissions, is a huge change..
it seems as if there is only the on/off switch now and all lumped into one unsorted list.

First off, NoScript is wonderful. I use other browsers occasionally, without a similar facility, and it's a truly dreadful experience. Great thanks to the developers (and yes I did send some money not too long ago). No, I don't like the new UI much, but for the things it does it's usable.

But guys, you've got to do something about "temporarily allow all this page"! I'm the computer-knowledgeable one in the house; everyone else just runs with scripts disabled and if something doesn't work they know to think twice about the site and then if they need to they hit "temporarily enable". I mean, they don't know one site from another, to a first approximation. Yes, I know it's not particularly safe but frankly it's the only thing that they're going to do: they don't have the knowledge, let alone the time, to pick through the whole list switching things off and on.

Without "Temporarily allow" I'm going to come under pressure to discontinue NoScript altogether, after years of use. Please ... I'm begging and it's hard to type when you're down on your knees!

Temporary Allow exists, it's just less obvious: click on the clock next to the permission setting.
