[FIX] Fx 56 - NoScript icon disappeared on 5.1.2 update

Happy to report that downloading the development build (5.1.3rc1) of NoScript works for me. My NoScript icon/button no longer disappears. This is on FF 56.0.

First, Giorgio, thank you for NoScript. As you've learned, many of us depend on it for safer browsing.

Running Firefox 56.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10, with NoScript 5.1.2. Restart in safe mode, followed by normal start, fixed problem for me as well.

And here is the About:Config after restarting normally, with much better formatting (I noticed the "Copy text to clipboard" button this time). I had done a Safe Mode restart before this, and for NoScript, it had showed "Enabled: false" when I did that.

I tried restarting Firefox in Safe Mode and restarting normally, but this hasn't solved the problem. From what I can tell, a fresh re-install also hasn't helped.

Ok, I am still using FFox 45.9 ESR because it the latest available for my old mac, but the problem is not related with FF (now working) but with the last noscript update.

Please check whether latest development build 5.1.3rc1 helps. Otherwise please downgrade to 5.0.10and disable automatic updates for NoScript.

In Firefox 56.0 (32-bit) the noscript plugin disappears and is set to "Legacy" on reinstallation. After some digging in the mozilla.org support site, they say that it is because of their adoption of the new standard "WebExtensions". FF 57 will only work with this WebExtensions framework. So after migration of NoScript to this framework, everything should be fine once more.

The fix does work, but I have found that whenever I close firefox, my noscript ends up going down to 5.1.1 and it always asks me to update to 5.1.2. So I end up having to reinstall 5.1.2, or leave my browser open.

Please try to completely remove NoScript, restart, then reinstall 5.1.2.
