[FIX] Fx 56 - NoScript icon disappeared on 5.1.2 update

It was gone from my right-click menu as well after i had received a NoScript update message after a Firefox crash, which made it rather problematic since that meant i could no longer allow scripts. Disabling the add-on and then restarting it (and Firefox) seems to have fixed the issue for me though.

Safe mode-and-restart works for me.

Two details I noticed. First, it's not just the toolbar icon that disappears. Right-clicking should also bring up a "NoScript" submenu, which also is gone while this is going on.

Second, when I restarted out of safe mode, I got the 5.1.2 upgrade screen at once. That obviously doesn't makes sense if this problem is only coming up as a result of the 5.1.2 upgrade. Given the problems other people have reported, where they get the "?ver=5.1.1&prev=5.1.2" version of the upgrade screen (which I also got), maybe this is a result of the 5.1.2 upgrade getting stuck somehow, and confusing Firefox's extension updating process? I could see how FF might just give up and dump the extension if, for example, it's confused by expecting 5.1.2 and (falsely) seeing 5.1.1.

All you, also those who fixed it by restarting in safe mode, could you please post the list of your extensions (from about:support)?
Even if we've got a few report, I'm still unable to reproduce this issue and I'd really like to pinpoint it, no matter if a work-around seems to exist. Thanks!

I just followed the fix in the first post but it did nothing. I still have no icons in bar or customize and no right click noscript either.

I went to Tools=> Add-ons ==> Extensions. NoScript shows up as "Legacy". I disabled Noscript (option to completely disable not just disable scripts) then enabled immediately after and the NoScript icon appeared. I'm on Win10(32bit) with Firefox 56.0.

The only other extension I had enabled at the time was the Safe Browsing Version 4 extension. Windows 10 Pro. Firefox 56.0 (32-bit). Disabling it and restarting Firefox did not help. Disabling NoScript and restarting didn't help. Starting Firefox in safe mode then in normal mode worked for me. It seems odd the NoScript update screen appears again after starting Firefox in normal mode after starting it in safe mode.
