Just in time, too. 57.0b1 darkened my doorstep this afternoon.

It's... something of a shock. Looks nice, though.

FF 57b4 has just come out

Giorgio has indicated that a complete port won't be possible (insufficient API support) until Firefox 57 comes out.

Firefox 57 slated for November 14th now. That gives Giorgio some time.

Also, Giorgio and all who help with NoScript, thank you for all of your hard work!! :D

Hi,
I'm wondering. With NoScript being ported to the WebEx API, can we assume that at some point, at least portion of NoScript would be available on Firefox for Android (I'm thinking specifically about ABE)?
Thanks!

I'm really curious what the status of WebExt-NoScript is by now. I imagine that there are bugs left, but considering the time left until FF57 gets released (and knowing that NoScript is a hybrid addon for some time now) I presume it's in a working condition.
So, dear Giorgio, is there any chance we will see a beta version of webext-only Noscript beforce it even hits the dev-channel? Maybe it could be posted in this thread?

NoScript Webext may not be fully technically possible until Firefox 57 is in release - https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... 984#p89984

I think you and the post you linked (also https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... =30#p89900) refer to this blog post: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/08 ... ions-apis/
Correct?
When I read this blog post this is only mentioned here:
The plan is to have a lean and mean version of NoScript available as soon as Firefox 57 is released. Some of the APIs required for full parity with the legacy version won’t land until Firefox 57.
"Won't land until FF57" means (from my perspective) that they are included in the FF57 beta. Nothing indicates, that those APIs are not included in the beta and will be merged right before FF57 's release.
To be honest, if the FF team did this and released untested changes it would extremely stup... bold and hazardous. What if they merge an update for the API between the last beta version and the first release RC and it breaks all of WebExt. So I think the API for FF57 is complete in the DevEdition and the final NoScript version should work.

Since the blog post in August I found no update from Giorgio. I don't want to be offensive to you or the other moderators, in no way. But since (only?) Giorgio knows if NoScript will run in FF57 I would really appreciate an update from him. :)

Unfortunately some APIs have been deferred by the Firefox team to 58.
NoScript will be released as a WebExtension for Firefox 57 with all the major functionalities but some limitations (mostly related to features used by the Tor Browser, which require the still missing APIs), while feature parity with "legacy" NoScript will be guaranteed only when the Tor Browser gets its next major upgrade, i.e. in March 2018 when it will be based on Firefox 59.

I have auto update set for NoScript in Firefox and after restarting the latest version was installed with a BIG PROBLEM.

The NoScript Control Buttons are gone and you can't add them back using customization. There is no NoScript Menu item in the drop down menus either. The only thing you can do is to disable NoScript in order to get websites that need scripts working

Please fix or explain how can I get the older version back.

Thank you

Maybe this is a good time to make a small donation for NS to inspire the developer

For years, I've browsed the web with relative impunity (still didn't click on obviously bad links). But now suddenly the Internet is a minefield, and it's not safe to step anywhere.

You don't realize how much you depend on NoScript until it's suddenly gone.

Donated.
