Post by LarryB »

Hi All,

Does anyone know if NoScript will be coming back in Nightly 57?

Thanks,
Larry

NS like any other extension is in the process of being ported over to the new extension model forced by Mozilla and so while it continues to function flawlessly, it has been in the process and Giorgio has been hard at work and locked away do it, so it will show up as it becomes ready and stable enough to be released, otherwise he prefers to keep it off instead of releasing something buggy. So, all I can say is be patient, but thank you for letting us know.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I have enjoyed the function NoScript provides ... I'll be glad to have it back.

I appreciate everyone's efforts.

I really like this extension and I am glad it is being updated for Firefox 57.

Would it be possible to pin this and the other detailed posts to the top of the Forum.
Maybe you have and I missed it. The detailed interview post would be nice if it was also pinned.

Will pass that along; but keep in mind his schedule is quite busy and hectic.

But why isn't NoScript working as WebExtension in Firefox Nightly 57.0a1 ?
In the NoScript CHANGELOG (v 5.0.9) is a writing about "embedded WebExtension". :?

That's the busy part of him trying to make it into that. Not every extension is converted or easy to do so, it takes time and proper testing. So use it in legacy or don't use Nightly, your choice.

Thank You - that's almost too much of honor  .... it's You who deserves the credit solving my nescience with the helpful Mozilla-Link :). I just overinterpreted the meaning of "embedded" :o - now it's clear to me

I use NS everyday in Pale Moon choiced by me :D since the days of the eerie outlook on an "australised" Firefox and definitely since Mozilla will abandon the prerequisites for legacy-addons :x - Firefox Nightly I use merely as portable version to watch the woeful extinguishing of Fox's Fire

Ok then, have fun and wait until it is no longer in legacy mode 8-)

Thanks for your answer!
Besides all fun and besides the jokes I make about Firefox's changes I don't like I'm totally aware of the problem You brought up!
I don't expect from Giorgio Maone to maintain a legacy NoScript version just for a small user base of legacy based Firefox-forks, but i hope there will be someone who are able to fork legacy NoScript for the hitherto add-on technology. If not I hope the webextensioned NoScript add-on can be used in Google Chrome browser to visit risky internet areas. For sites I need a browser with the well-tried add-ons as DownThemAll! for example I'll enforcedly go the risk using a browser with a then outdated NoScript :?
