Re: [RESOLVED] FILE:// problems
I upgraded to 1.9.7.3 and STILL have problems with file:///
noscript auto-blocks my page when I click on a link with file:/// on this (allowed) page.

Do you mean you've got an internet page and you can't open a link pointing to a file:// URL like file:///C:/WINDOWS/System32/drivers/etc/hosts?oernii wrote:noscript auto-blocks my page when I click on a link with file:/// on this (allowed) page.
That's not NoScript blocking it, but a built-in security feature of Firefox.
NoScript can help you relaxing it for trusted sites (NoScript Options|Advanced|Trusted|Allow local links), but it's not very advisable.

Re: [RESOLVED] FILE:// problems
Nooo, I CAN open file:/// links. I allowed it in firefox.
- I have a page which is allowed to run javascipt in noscript. This page has file:/// links in it. They CAN be opened
- When I click on such a link noscript immediately changes it's status and javascript is no longer allowed on this page
My (S) icon turns red and I have to allow javascript after EVERY click I make on a file:// link.
the weird thing is that the URL in noscript right-click menu is in brackets like 'Allow [ https://192.168.1.100 ]' . All other sites I visit do not have these brackets.
PS: I can access that page through https and http also, through IP address and DNS name. It's all the same.

How did you, exactly? If you've got NoScript installed, the only reliable way is the aforementioned NoScript option, otherwise you can have unexpected results.oernii wrote:Nooo, I CAN open file:/// links. I allowed it in firefox.

Can I see the source for this page? Is it served from your LAN (as it seems)?

Re: [RESOLVED] FILE:// problems
Could you try NoScript Options|Reset?
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Re: [RESOLVED] FILE:// problems
I did a reset, allowed my page and allowed local links. All the same. After clicking on a file:/// link , NS switches the javascript on this page off. Againg the hostname is in [ ] brackets.
Update: just tried this on a new profile and it does not do it. Probably a clash with some other extension.
