NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
Hi all,
my workaround doesn't work anymore. The symbol to display in full screen doesn't appear.
But the workaround two post above to open this frame in a new tab works for me.
regards
Kowalski

Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
Hello,
today I have updated to FF 53, but it's still not working. I can't pay in ebay.de with paypal. If I deactivated noscript, I can pay with paypal in ebay.de
What can I do? What's wrong with noscript or the settings?
regards
pemi

Thanks! Works for me (FF53 x63). But you must fast enough to catch the correct frame.guest wrote:I have found a workaround that maybe works for others.Guest wrote:Been using noscript for years, still not working and gonna have to remove.
When you are logging in to paypal and getting the "processing" window right click anywhere in it and choose "this frame" and then "open frame in new tab"
In the new tab the login works.

Obviously no one here to fix the problem! Unfortunately...pemi wrote:Hello,

Same Problem,
in Ebay, PayPal Frame comes up, but after entering login data, it circles for a while, then stops - all white frame.
Using FireFox on Win10x64 with NoScript Addon. Doesn't matter what NoScript is setup for, e.g. allowing all scripts, doesn't help.
Only when NoScript is deactivated in FF's addon manager, PP works again.

Is there anything appearing in the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) when this occurs?

There's a really simple way to fix the problem:
Cause of the problem occuring in FF52 / 53: After installing the FF update, the multipocessor feature (aka "e10s") is disabled. This seems to cause the problem to occur.
Solution: just set the about:config variable browser.tabs.remote.force-enable to true (if it doesn't exist (anymore): just create it as boolean)

Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
OK, great! That works for me very well in FF53 and Win 7.
But may be that there are problems with addons that do not support e10s?

So this hint is also only an workaround, no problem solving.
Wondering why this needs so much time...

Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
I have switched to uMatrix (and delete NoScript - sorry).
And have solved this problem.
As you can see in the in the Matrix of this AddOn, there are many more urls from Ebay and PayPal, which have to set on the whitelist.
NoScript never see or offer them to whitelisting...
uMatrix is (for me) the better solution, it offers an better UI.

Thanks TS for the uMatrix suggestion. I wouldn't call the UI intuitive but I'm pretty happy with it now and sadly am bidding NoScript farewell.

Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
Glad you guys found something that works for you, but please note that µMatrix, while a great addon, is not a NoScript replacement. In fact, they are so different that I for one use both NoScript and µMatrix side-by-side.

To confirm this I have to understand the work of both deeper as i can.
uMatrix stop scripts from third party by default and show me, which this sites are, thats what i need.
If NoScript will work again in future, may be i go back, but at this point it is broken for me - sorry.

Re: NoScript and Firefox v52.0 breaks ebay / paypal checkout
IMPORTANT, to anybody who can reproduce with e10s disabled but is using the "work-around" of keeping / forcing e10s enabled:
please check latest development build 5.0.7rc2 for regressions (i.e. please confirm that Ebay->Paypal communication still works with e10s enabled), because I fixed a e10s-related bug which might have side effects on this issue, which I'm unable to reproduce anymore
