<AUDIO>/<VIDEO> embeddings issue

Post by Sparo »

While using Pocket Casts' web player (https://play.pocketcasts.com) some podcasts won't play such as the podcast Stuff You Should Know.
The direct link to an episode doesn't play unless I click-to-play. The link is here: http://podcasts.howstuffworks.com/hsw/p ... -final.mp3?
When I attempt to play an episode on PocketCasts, this is what the browser console says.
mediaPlayer event error <unavailable> "http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3 ... eId=923207" <unavailable>
I've tried it on the latest stable and development version, the problem is on both.

What sites appear on the menu?

What happens if you temporarily use Scripts Globally Allowed?

To confirm, it definitely works with NoScript disabled?

What other extensions do you use?

(NoScript has default settings with audio and video unticked in Embeddings)
On the Pocket Casts web player, the sites in the menu are pocketcasts.com (allowed), typekit.net, google-analytics.com and gstatic.com(allowed).
Allowing scripts globally allow the direct link to play without having to click-to-play but the web player still has the same problem.
Yes, it definitely works with NoScript disabled.
At the moment, I'm only using NoScript, uBlock Origin and LastPass but I have tried it with only NoScript enabled and the problem persisted. I'm using the nightly and developer update channels of Firefox if that might have anything to do with it.

Are you blocking HTML5 video playback?

As a test, create a new, clean Profile, install only NoScript, leave it at its default settings, then try your clip.

Both the direct link & that in the Browser Console are working here.

It works for me with just howstuffworks.com Allowed.

Sparo, have you set NoScript Options > Embeddings, "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too"?

The audio is working as long as I whitelist howstuffworks.com, but is there any way to allow it to play audio without having to whitelist the site? I could whitelist every site the podcasts I listen to come from but it'd be quite the hassle.

Made a clean profile, installed NoScript with the default settings and it's the same problem. I then unticked Forbid <AUDIO>/<VIDEO> in Embeddings and it still didn't allow the audio to play without me having to click-to-play.
