NoScript Won't Allow Anything in Firefox 50.0.x?

Post by MIkeB »

Since Firefox 50.0.2, NoScript has been blocking every site on the Internet, even if whitelisted. Even this one. What happens, for instance, is that if I whitelist "informaction.net" NoScript immediately switches to blocking "https://forums.informaction.net" and refuses to temporarily or permanently allow it. In some cases, the won't-unblock is shown as, e.g., "[https://...]". I can click on temporary or full unblock of those and nothing happens. So, I have to either globally unblock to use any site (since everybody uses Javascript) or live without Javascript (which kills the necessary function of some sites). Do I need to abandon FF with NoScript and go back to Edge (in which the sites work)? Actually, at this point, I'll probably abandon NoScript since the sites do work without it.

If you do try it again, it sounds like either your settings or profile are corrupted somehow, because that certainly isn't the normal behavior that others are seeing. Can you try an Export and Reset of your NoScript settings and see if your problem persists?

Go back to 2.9.5.1 to fix the problem.

Guest, are you visiting sites Marked as Untrusted? (Which BTW includes if you've got Scripts Globally Allowed and you visit a script-blocked site.)

Normally I don't have Scripts globally allowed.
In the previous versions I incrementally allowed anything I needed, but since the last update these rules just didn't work most of the time.

I don't think every site I used would count as Untrusted, for example the eBay websites don't work for me.
Every now and then my old rule set was working, but it was annoying as hell.
I reverted to Version 2.9.5.1 and with this version everything still works as it always did.

Also I wasn't able to add new rules with v 2.9.5.2 via the drop-down menu.
I don't know if it helps you, but the Button to allow a Website in the newest version looks like:
"http://site.domain", whereas the old Versions just shows "site.domain" without the http.

Thanks for the info.

There is a bug where if you visit an Untrusted site before visiting a whitelist site, you will not be able to Allow the site. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22355

Does that sound like what's happening to you?

I am having the same problem as the OP. No script is basically useless on my desktop. Everything will be good then I will click on a new page say a link in reddit and then suddenly reddit is no longer allowed. I close everything up and try again and then it's okay for a bit. Several times I have had to disable noscript to look at sites that have been no problem before.

Having the same problem since most recent Firefox update. The other thread said it is a long-standing bug, but I never had a problem before.

Everybody who don't have sites "Marked as untrusted" and don't have scripts "Globally allowed", could you please use NoScript Options>Export and send me your configuration, eitehr by private message or email?
Thank you.

bug in noscript 2.9.5.2

Post by NIKORIAN »

Fresh install of Firefox to 50.0.2. Fresh install of NoScript 2.9.5.2. (totally vanilla settings) Whitelist is about 300 entries. Been using noscript for years now first time issue has shown up. Other Addon's Adblock plus, and lastpass. It is not a clash with the other addons as I have completely uninstalled the Firefox browser and after reinstalling Firefox 50.0.2 the only addon I added was no script and the bug re occurred after a few minutes of browsing back and forth between new sites never visited and bookmarked and whitelisted sites. After clearing all possible issues with other addons I have re-added them and started rebuilding my whitelist.

What the issue/bug is: Randomly a previously whitelisted site will not show up as whitelisted. This occurs for the most part when browsing various sites and then clicking on a bookmarked site that was previously Allowed (permanently). Mostly Instagram and Craigslist as I visited these sites hourly for the most part. But other sites that have been bookmarked and permanently allowed it has occurred on as well.

The option to Allow the site is available but it does not function. The option to temp allow is also there but not functioning. The only way to get it to work again is to restart the browser completely. Then it functions as if nothing was wrong but several links later it repeats the issue/bug.

I have read thru various post about something similar being a longtime bug, but this is new to 2.9.5.2.

I have checked my Notebook which runs Firefox but version NoScript 2.9.5 and this issue has not ever happened.

Let me know what information you need to help correct this bug.

Thanks in Advance,
Niko

Same problem here.

A good temporary work around is rolling back to 2.9.5.1: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/
