Bing + Electrolysis: jumps to bottom of page?

Post by ypeels »

Steps to reproduce in Fx 48.0 with NS 2.9.0.14:
  1. New Fx profile
  2. Enable Electrolysis: browser.tabs.remote.autostart = browser.tabs.remote.force-enable = true
EDIT: you have to create a new boolean pref for force-enable, as per https://wiki.mozilla.org/Electrolysis#Force_Enable
  3. Install NS from AMO and restart Fx
  4. NS: Allow bing.com
  5. Perform any Bing search from the search bar
Expected result
bing.com search results load

Observed result
bing.com search results load and Fx jumps to the bottom of the page

Workarounds - the expected result is obtained with any one of the following changes:
  • Disable NS
  • Disable Electrolysis. EDIT: Status should be available at about:support under "Multiprocess Windows".
  • NS: Forbid bing.com
Thank you!

Not sure how to enable e10s, rather not sure why e10s is not enabled after setting the Pref & restarting?

Win7 x64, FF 48, e10 enabled, NoScript 2.9.0.14rc1.

about:support

Code: Select all

Multiprocess Windows 0/2 (Disabled by add-ons)
Ah, I had to also add the (boolean) Pref, browser.tabs.remote.force-enable & set it to true (& restart). (Wonder why?)

Also I expected to see individual "firefox.exe" entries in Task Manager (like what Chrome, is it?, does, but FF does not do that.

Still not able to confirm.

I load: www.bing.com (& that is the page that loads)
Type in: ncmain.exe into the search box

And I get:

Code: Select all

http://www.bing.com/search?q=ncmain.exe&go=Submit+Query&qs=ds&form=QBLH
With the page position at the top as expected.

Maybe its a Win10 thing?

Or maybe FF x64 - nope, I'm running x64.
And I believe the actual release (rather then the unbranded version) - yes must be otherwise the icons would be different.

Sorry about any confusion; I'll edit the original post to add this step.

Electrolysis status should be available at about:support under "Multiprocess Windows".

Here's the URL I get when searching for ncmain.exe:

Code: Select all

https://www.bing.com/search?q=ncmain.exe&pc=MOZI&form=MOZSBR
Although I get the same behavior when using your link...

Thank you!

Keep in mind the NoScript 2.x is not expected to fully work with e10s: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1058542
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!
