[RESOLVED] Bug: RSS feed not working - Firefox 48

Post by harryray2 »

Since installing 2.9.0.13 my RSS feeds have stopped working. I can get them to work by whitelisting a site but I don't want to do this with most of the sites I have feeds to, I want them to remain blocked.
Is there a work around?

Please don't post duplicate topics, see Forum Rules #8 for more information.

Others have reported it to be caused by the newer versions of Firefox, and you seem to be running Firefox 48. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=21969
Are you sure it's a NoScript update and not a Firefox update causing the issue in your case?

No, I can't be sure as I installed both the updates at the same time....

As a test, create a new, clean Profile.
Install only NoScript.
Test your feeds.

Please backup your profile and then try with Firefox 45 ESR. Does the problem persist?

If not, same problem as the other thread.

And just how did you test FF 47?

And before FF 47, what version of FF were you running?

Yesterday's No Script update also broke all my RSS Bookmark feeds as well. Feeds work fine in safe mode. I've never encountered this problem until yesterday's No Script update. I hope reverting to an older version of Firefox or No Script isn't necessary to fix this issue.

@Damo: You are also using Firefox 48. We've already established that it is not caused by a NoScript update. Reverting NoScript will only make the problem worse.
Please see above for link to Firefox 45 ESR, which should be unaffected.

Here's the problem w/ FF 48 and NoScript (from the error console):

14:26:34.471 unsafe CPOW usagenoscriptService.js:2354:10

Here's the solution:

And just what part of that is the solution, what worked for you?

Anyhow, it states:
Note that from Firefox 47 onwards, unsafe CPOW usage is no longer permitted in browser code.
So if that were the issue for the OP, should FF 47 be working for him, which it does?
Or were e10's not available in FF 47?

@harryray & Damo, are you running with e10's enabled?

Yes, running FF 48. I looked through the FF options and didn't see anything about e10s, what are e10s?

So, what, its the particular feeds in question.
Good thing someone bothered to post them.

Feeds	INFO	downloaded: Update: Blogs & News Feeds/TweakersDownloads -> https://feeds.feedburner.com/tweakers/meuktracker. There are no new articles for this feed.

In SeaMonkey, you can subscribe to feeds using "News & Blogs" (Mail) &/or by "Live Bookmarks". It is the latter which is not working - for some feeds.

(FF Error Console really sucks, IMO.)
