split post AntiRAM - Not blocking PDF ?

Post by AntiRAM »

HI MA1.

I POST HERE AFTER THAT I CAN NOT POST A NEW TOPIC FOR SOME FORUM MALFUNCTIONING (???)
YOUR SERVER SAYD THA MY BROWSER IS SENDIG A BAD REQUEST WICH IT CANNOT UNDERSTAND (!!!!)

I will be glad if you investigate in those "problems" related to noscript functions:

Please note that i've tested those noscript's problems on different machines with different hardware
and operating systems and even different Fiefox Browser Versions .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) -NOSCRIPT 1.9.6.9. (Stable AMO Version)

Prerequisites: Operating System:DEBIAN LINUX VERSION 5.0.1
Firefox Browser Version 3.0.0.6 (CALLED ICEWEASEL)
All Plugins Forbidden.
Site in object Forbidden and any subdomain forbidden.
ALL scripts forbidden.

Loading this URL address:http://www.maritv.net/Public/data/charl ... matics.pdf

OR ANY ADDRESS WICH POINTS TO A PDF CONTENT WILL NOT FORBIDDEN AT ALL.
NO QUESTION WILL BE ASKED BY NOSCRIPT IN THIS CASE.

IT WILL BE DOWNLOADED AND USER IS PROMPTED TO OPEN IT WITH DOCUMENT VIEWER OR ANY PROGRAM TO DO SO.

This Happens even in NOSCRIPT 1.9.1.91 (Stable AMO Version).

So From NOSCRIPT 1.9.1.91 TO NOSCRIPT 1.9.6.9. Behaviour is the Same (Doesn't forbid !!!)

(I not remember in Previously releases How it was this).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) -NOSCRIPT 1.9.6.9. (Stable AMO Version)

Prerequisites: Operating System:Any M$oft Windows.
Latest Firefox Browser Version 2.0.0.20

MINOR ISSUE HERE:

There is a small blemish only aestetically in "Information of Noscript Menu"

Seems like a portion of code is mixed with the windows text .

This is Only in Firefox Browser Version 2.0.0.20

- I did not test development versions yet because i Rely on Stable Versions Only.

REGARDS AntiRAM.

I CAN NOT POST A NEW TOPIC
I suppose it has something to do with anti-spam measures on the board & your User Agent?

Working on this end. I'm show a placeholder as expected.
Firefox Browser Version 3.0.0.6
Is that accurate? Are you able to update to a newer version or are you locked in to the older with iceweasel?

The first issue is about PDF being downloaded, not opened.
This is out of the scope of NoScript. NoScript prevents PDF from being automatically opened inside the browser (i.e. through a plugin, hence the "Forbid other plugins" label for this feature).
If the PDF is not going to be opened by a plugin (e.g. because it's served with a "Content-disposition: attachment" header), NoScript makes no attempt to block it because you're asked what to do with it anyway.

The second issue looks like a theme or localization problem. Not sure what can I do about it, other than blindly enlarging the About dialog.

HI TO ALL.

Thank's MA1 for the quick response and explanations.

I understood what you wrote.

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.0.6 In that DEBIAN configuration did not come with a embedded pdf reader and "relies" on
external reader, therefore is not, indeed, a NOSCRIPT problem.

@therube

I think is not related to "User Agent" because i tried with different browsers inclusive I.E. 6.
And more I tried also with other machines and O.S. (Will Investigate if it was a routing issue)
Furthermore i Was able to Reply (With the same User Agent)
At this point i did not know what is the difference btw New Topic and Post Reply on the same Server UNIT.

Yes It is accurate FIREFOX 3.0.0.6 comes with DEBIAN VERSION 5.0.0 STABLE Release
(It is also called ICEWEASEL for some Copyright issues.)

In that specific case i wasn't able to upgrade because I tested with a LIVE CD of DEBIAN 5.0.0
Will test later on a official Installation on HD.

Anyway all of this has no more relevance since i received satisfactory explanations in both cases.

THANK's TO ALL
