Allow right scripts through when buying something online

Post by ng4ever »

For example like on newegg.com how do I know I allow the right scripts through when buying something from there ? Without getting double charged or anything.

Thanks.

In general for these type situations you're probably best off setting Allowing Scripts Globally while doing the sensitive transaction, then Forbidding Scripts Globally after it's done. You obviously trust the site from which you're making the purchase, so this can't hurt.
Of course, this would be not having any other sites open in the same browser session. If that isn't realistic you can create a new profile - with NS always set Allow Scripts Globally - for use only for purchases & the like, and keep your regular profile for normal browsing. To run profiles concurrently start Firefox with command-line options like this:

Code: Select all

firefox.exe -no-remote -new-instance -profilemanager
(or, more directly: )

Code: Select all

firefox.exe -no-remote -new-instance -P <profilename>
You can selectively transfer data from your existing profile to the new profile: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... _-_Firefox if you choose to do this I would recommend you start with prefs.js (and user.js, if it exists) and reconfigure from there.

Hope this helps.
