Problem adding finance.yahoo.com

Post by SFSecurity »

I'm having a problem getting to finance.yahoo.com so I wanted to add it to the white list. The Add button goes away when I type the last letter, the m in .com

I exported the file and opened it notepad and was not able to add it to the list but I was able to add https://finance.yahoo.com.

It occurs to me that perhaps NoScript has gotten corrupted. Can I uninstall it and reinstall without losing any functionality? What is the best way to do an uninstall? Do I need to open Firefox once it is uninstalled, then close it and reopen it before reinstalling NoScript?

Thanks,

Allen

Oh, forgot one thing, even after adding https://finance.yahoo.com via notepad I still can't get to it.

This usually means that finance.yahoo.com or yahoo.com is already on the whitelist. I'm surprised you could add the https variant.
What NoScript version are you using?

Anyway, *if* there is corruption, you might try fixing it something like this. Note that I have never done this, it would be smart to completely quit the browser and make a backup of your entire profile before proceeding:
1) NoScript Options > Whitelist > Export (the one unique to the Whitelist panel, *not* the one on the very bottom. Actually, I guess it wouldn't hurt to do both. Oh, wait, you've already done the first one, so far so good!)
2) about:config > right-click "noscript.mandatory" entry > Copy Value
3) about:config > set capability.policy.maonoscript.sites to what you just copied
4) delete anything to do with "yahoo" on your exported whitelist. Note that there could be 3 entries for the same thing: the entry itself, a http:// entry, and a https:// entry
5) re-import the whitelist

But again, I'm not sure if you actually have any corruption...

What do you mean by "can't get to it"? Can you please describe this in more detail?
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!
