Nightly e10s only|Pages load very slowly+browser hangs

Post by GH113 »

Hello!
e10s enabled - bug reproduced, e10s disabled bug is not reproduced
Make sure you have Nightly 14-04-2016 (13-04-2016 won't work)
Create new profile, install NoScript, restart, open new tab and go to http://www.yandex.ru
ps Yandex is russian Google https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yandex

Result: almost every webpage I open loads very slowly, the whole browser hangs including the interface
Expected result: webpages should load quickly and without hangs like with e10s disabled

EDIT: also notice the same behaviour with every webpage I open, the hang is just more evident in case with Yandex.

Yup, I am having the same issue. The browser literally becomes unusable.

I use Process Explorer to monitor resource use, slowdown is worse when plugin-container.exe is using a lot of CPU. MajorGeeks home page, which has no embedded media, loads fast.

The above was posted with Developer Edition, which doesn't have the problem. Now back on Nightly, this forum is not bad either, same for Mozillazine forum and Bugzilla. Yahoo is a nightmare, though, freezes the browser every time a new ad loads.

e10s support is not complete.

Mozilla has created a shim that allows many extensions to keep working regardless, but it *does* slow things down.

I was seeing slowness on wikipedia.com more so then with Yandex.

During the slowdown (hang, actually) plugin-container.exe uses 25% CPU (100% of 1-core).

Generally it was like this...

Some site, highlight a term, Search Yahoo for ...
From the Yahoo Search results, click the wikipedia.com entry

Tab opens wikipedia "loads" (hangs, most often), page (finally) loads

In most cases that is the way it is.
Though I didn't really discover any rhyme or reason to the slowness, as in sometimes, wikipedia links opened from the already loaded wikipedia page opened OK. So was kind of under the impression that it took a moderately long wikipedia page to cause the hang, but sometimes there was no (appreciable) hang, or sometimes a short page would also hang?
