I have a problem with Dictionary.com add-ons.
I can't listen the pronunciation sound when I click the speaker icon because NoScript blocks the object (mp3 file).
In NoScriot option, I have tried to untick the 'FORBID AUDIO/VIDEO', fill the whitelist.
But they don't matter. I still can't listen the pronunciation sound.

So, I looked for the solution in this forum and I found this topic/post

But that topic has too many replied posts that I can't understand because my English sucks (not my native).
Or I'm just lazy to read it. Idk.

So, will you please tell me the solution in easier explanation?
I hope in that way I can understand and solve my problem.

As far as the other thread is concerned, it's supposed to just work in latest NoScript.
What NoScript version are you using? What browser (& version) are you using?
Have you tried Allow Scripts Globally + reload the page?

Can you please post an exact link where you have the issue?

I use the latest NoScript on Firefox 45.
No,I haven't tried Allow Scripts Globally because I don't want it work that way.
Yes I know if I try that, the add-ons purposely works.
But with that way, every time I want to use the add-ons on many different websites, I have to click 'allow all this the page' again and again.
It bothers me.

What does that mean? I don't get it.
I use Dictionary.com add-ons to know the meaning/pronunciation of a word. (from any webs)
It works simple by double clicking a word and then I can see the pop out appear.

I tried to temporarily allow and whitelist http://sp.dictionary.com
But I still can't listen the pronunciation.

Sorry TMI, as a comparison I use Chrome too. Chrome doesn't have NoScript.
Instead, I use ScriptSafe and it works fine with this kind of add-ons (Chrome extension: SpeakIt!)
I can listen the pronunciation sound without changing the setting/option. Just click the speaker icon.
That's what I want. Just the way it supposed to be.

OH it's an addon, not a webpage. Now I understand what you mean.

It looks like the addon is trying to inject the dictionary.com content, including script tags, directly in the page you're viewing. (That's generally bad practice for an addon.)
In order to make this work, you will have to (Temp-)Allow the top-level site as well as dictionary.com (& other dictionary.com related scripts that show up)... so, I guess you choose, dictionary or security?

Or, you could also ditch the add-on, add dictionary.com as a search engine, and use context menu search selection - which would open the dictionary in a new tab?

I have tried this but doesn't work either. Yeah, NoScript doesn't block the sound, but still I can't listen the sound
It (the sound) works if I disable NoScript through about:addons

Early on this topic, I wrote 'I don't want it work that way'
I just want it work like I use the kind of same addons on Chrome called SpeakIt!
On Chrome, it works well when I use ScriptSafe (like NoScript on Firefox) and SpeakIt! (like Dictionary.com on Firefox)to listen the pronunciation sound when I click the speaker icon.

No offense, I'd prefer Chrome which provides BOTH dictionary or security well without getting me trouble.

I think point accepted, NoScript doesn't allow the Dictionary add-ons to play the pronunciation sound by clicking the speaker icon.
So, if I want it that way, just use another browser.

HERE as this forum or your country which blocked social media sites? I thought you live in China.

Here as in my local network. Social media sites will track the living daylights out of anyone, user or not, who access their servers. Unbelieveably creepy and intrusive what they try to collect, to sell to advertiser and other private companies which may have questionable ethics! And that people would WILLINGLY give their WHOLE LIVES to this same social media!!!!!!!!
We will have nothing to do with it.

(Add-on tested using new Firefox profile + NoScript)

If dictionary.com already is whitelisted in NoScript then you can have audio playback (pronunciation) on http sites:

Give it a try...
1. In Firefox's location bar, type about:config
2. Press Enter
3. In the Search bar, type noscript.allowedMimeRegExp
4. Place cursor on the item then right-click to open context menu, select Modify
5. Copy/paste string below as value:

audio/mpeg@https?://.*\.dictionary.com

6. Refresh, press F5
7. Test it on http site(s)

On some pages the player controls might appear below the speaker icon in the dictionary pop-up, on others the player remains hidden.

The pronunciation feature is not working on sites using https.
However clicking the link "More" in dictionary pop-up, takes you to dictionary.com where clicking the speaker icon does result in audio playback.

Works for me, after a LOT of fighting with Firefox itself...

Test URL: https://noscript.net/

Installed:
- Dictionary.com Pop-up
- NoScript 2.9.0.4rc1 (2.9.0.5 seems buggy based on reports, didn't want to get into that)

Steps I did to make it work:
- Allow dictionary.com
- about:config > noscript.allowedMimeRegExp, add:

audio/mpeg3@https?://(?:[^/:]+\.)?dictionary\.com

(According to grid2 post, your MIME type may not be audio/mpeg3. Check the Blocked Objects menu to get the correct MIME type.)
- reload the page

Now NoScript is not what's blocking it, now Firefox blocks it. I had to then A) disable mixed content blocking by clicking the broken lock thingy on the address bar and finding my way to select "Disable protection for now", then B) allow some random plugin I didn't know I had on my testing environment (but Firefox should able to play it natively no? hopefully you can skip the plugin part.)

Then it worked for me, but sound was REALLY quiet...

This works for me, the link you provided in this topic that you said you use did not work for me (didn't even reach the Dictionary.com website).
