1.9.6.2
1.9.6.2
Hello Forum,
There seems to be a problem with installing the newest version 1.9.6.2 with Firefox 3.5.1. When I click to check for updates I get nothing. I tried downloading direct from the NoScript site and it installs but won't let Firefox restart and complete the installation. Any ideas what to do? Was the new version held up?
Thanks for any input.

Re: 1.9.6.2
Try again. Find Updates won't work because AMO hasn't released it yet. Go to http://noscript.net/getit#direct and click on direct download link for NoScript 1.9.6.2. If you get a yellow notification bar at the top of the browser asking you about the install, just click Allow.
Hope this helps. Please let us know whether it does.

I downloaded the update and clicked allow and it installs but when I click restart nothing happens so it does not install.

Re: 1.9.6.2
That shouldn't happen. Sounds like your Add-ons manager is confused. The extensions database may be corrupted. Exit Firefox, delete the files mentioned here in this linked article, restart Firefox. Uncorrupted versions of the files will be automatically regenerated. Corrupt_extension_fileshawaiisurfer wrote:when I click restart nothing happens so it does not install.

Thanks that sounds right to me. I'm going at it right now and should know soon.

Re: 1.9.6.2
Hello Alan,
That did it OK. I had to download from the NoScript site as the update feature on Firefox still would see it. Interestingly, The .Netframework 1.1 icon appeared as well and I had to manually delete it again. I don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, maybe because I used IE to open profiles that happened. Thanks for teaching me something this Monday morning,

I wanted to add that I had to go to the Firefox site to manually download version 3.5.1 as well. I don't know why the browser will not respond when I click "check for updates" but nothing happens when I do that. The only thing it says are "no updates found". So, on my browser it seems the auto update does not update and manually retrieving it for now is my only option. It would be interesting to see if anyone else is experiencing this.Hawaiisurfer wrote:Hello Alan,

Re: 1.9.6.2
You're welcome. Glad to hear your Firefox and NoScript seem to be working properly. By the way, registered users can see your Firefox user agent string appended to each of your posts. All along, including your first post, it has been Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1, i.e. you've been using Firefox 3.5.1 all along. That would explain why it said "no updates found".

Re: 1.9.6.2
Hello Alan,
Yes I have 3.5.1. What I meant to say is I could not get Firefox to update from the Browser (check for updates), like from 3.5.0 to 3.5.1. I had to go to the site to get it.That problem seems to be fixed as I was able to download the Noscript today (1.9.6.2). I have a suspicion that the BetterPrivacy addon I have installed might have been too tight.Keeping systems.sol seems to have been the fix. I loosened it up a notch and this seems to have worked. Thank you again for your help on this issue. Initially NoScript would not even install. Deleting ini, cache and rdf allowed NoScript to install.
Thanks,
p

What I meant to write was "settings.sol" for the BetterPrivacy addon. That needs to be there apparently.hawaiisurfer wrote:Hello Alan,

Hello Forum,
I'm getting over major surgery here and my mind is not 100% (good enough excuse lol) I meant I was able to upgrade to 1.9.6.7. I suspect BetterPrivacy, but it could be a consequence that things worked normal today. Thanks Alan for the tip and I shall check back once in a while to see what you developers are doing with NoScript.
