Announcements of new development builds

Post by Tom T. »

Split from resopnse to this post comparing old forum to new.

We could make a sticky thread, "New Development Build Announcements", to, uh, announce when there's a new dev build, but you'd still have to click it to read it. I don't see that that's saving any clicks versus just clicking the existing link. Perhaps Giorgio could just modify the subtitle,
Please install and test latest development build "X.X.X.X" before reporting any issue or bug
or the title,
"NoScript Development Build X.X.X.X"
when there is a new one available, which would constitute a high-visibility announcement to the entire forum, though one hates to ask him to increase his taskload.

Giorgio?

Thanks for this and I just wanted to clarify something. I wasn't trying to 'save clicks', it's just that in the old thread as one was reading he or she would see that a new development version was available because of problem such and such and they could keep on reading or go get the new version.

As I said, not a big deal and I'll give the RSS feed a whirl. :D
It's like I said.

The RSS feed is nice but you also have a link to it on the top of the NoScript forum section which goes directly to the dev build on the site.

Guys there are forum notifications, not just topic ones. This can be simply turned on for forums, so that we may use it & get notified through email whenever there's a new post in that forum...

Hey nimd4, good to see you here. I recognized your avatar from NNL thread.

Anyway, not sure what you mean exactly but this forum has a site wide feed for every post that can be monitored here: http://forums.informaction.com/syndication.php?type=rss

As for the feeds that you participate in, you can have them notify you automatically when there is a followup. The NoScript feed that Giorgio listed was just for the dev build I believe which also has a link on the top of the forum.

Good to see you and welcome.
