[RESOLVED] Google Maps Earth View
[RESOLVED] Google Maps Earth View
NoScript is blocking the Earth View on Google Maps. When I click Earth View from Google Maps the map fades to solid black. The only way I can see the Earth View is to disable NoScript and restart Firefox 44.0.2. Is there a fix for this problem? Thank you!

Re: Google Maps Earth View
What's Earth View, and can you please post directions how to get Earth View? Satellite and street view both works for me w/ NoScript

Re: Google Maps Earth View
I guess Earth View and Satellite view are the same thing. On the map there is a little box at the bottom left corner that says "Earth". Clicking that normally takes me to the "satellite" view but now when I click it, the map just goes black.

Re: Google Maps Earth View
The box on the bottom left says "Satellite" for me. NoScript menu shows the following Allowed, nothing blocked:
Testing with NoScript 2.9.0.4rc1 on SeaMonkey '2.41pre1' (based on Firefox 44.0 release).
What NS version and what plugins do you have?
Is HWA (hardware acceleration) enabled or disabled in your Firefox? Does flipping that setting make any difference?

Re: Google Maps Earth View
I turned off "hardware acceleration" in Firefox and that seems to have solved the problem!
Thank you!

Had the same problem, but solved it by disabling ABE. For some reason, disabling the individual rulesets was not enough.

Re: [RESOLVED] Google Maps Earth View
@Sevendy: That is *not* a solution, you are disabling a significant chunk of NoScript's protection by doing that!Sevendy wrote:Had the same problem, but solved it by disabling ABE. For some reason, disabling the individual rulesets was not enough.
Please test it with setting about:config > noscript.doNotTrack.enabled to false and re-enabling ABE and its default rulesets.

Just to clarify, does disabling HWA not work for you?

Re: [RESOLVED] Google Maps Earth View
I replied to this post yesterday but it never appeared on here. I am not sure that turning off "hardware acceleration" worked. Later I restarted Firefox and the black screen was back. I did a little more research and saw someone posted about refreshing the screen. While the black screen was still open I pressed the refresh icon on the address bar and refreshed the page. It's been working correctly ever since. Refreshing that screen must reset something that had gotten out of whack. I'm not a computer nerd so I have no idea what changed but it works and that's what I'm concerned with.

Re: [RESOLVED] Google Maps Earth View
Maybe Google doing some kind of feature detection involving noting that it's not works the first time. I've seen that on YouTube, where if Flash doesn't work the first time around it then gives HTML5; they may very well do a similar style "fallback" with Maps too.
