[RESOLVED] ABE Anonymize breaks YouTube html5 player again

Post by barbaz »

NoScript 2.9.0.1rc2, 2.9.0.3rc1
SeaMonkey '2.41pre1' (based on Firefox 44.0 release)

This ABE rule

Code: Select all

Site .googlevideo.com
Anonymize
breaks the YouTube html5 player (in the same way as described in viewtopic.php?f=10&t=20858 ) in Gecko 44, but the same video URLs work fine w/ html5 player in Gecko 42 (SeaMonkey 2.39). Why?
(I do not have Flash handy atm so I cannot test Flash player - EDIT Got to tested Flash, and it is unaffected: video playback works fine with Flash. /EDIT)

Also while trying to type this message and test stuff, NoScript ClearClick was complaining about ClearClick mouse and keyboard events between forums.informaction.com and youtube (no such thing was happening AFAIK), and something in the browser was randomly replacing my keystrokes with 'o', 'n', and 'd'. Had to completely restart the browser to stop that and get this typed.
???

Bump.

Apparently it's harder to get Flash out of YouTube now than before - the tricks I know to get Flash, now only work in a subset of conditions - e.g. links accessed by bookmark (or even browser back/forward buttons) will always get HTML5 no matter what, whereas links clicked on via search will get Flash (with my tricks).
Please fix this so that I can use YouTube HTML5 again - allowing YouTube to track me "extra" is unacceptable, and I can't downgrade SeaMonkey without also significant re-working of my profile. Thanks.

With 2.9.0.4rc1 the HTML5 player does not load at all.

EDIT Can't reproduce that again, now I get the same results as before. I'm confused Image

ETA
Giorgio, if you don't have time to even look into this soon, can you please outline how I could try to go about investigate it myself (& maybe fix it too), if that would be helpful here?

Sorry for the delay: it seems a combination of changes on the Youtube side and regressions in Necko when e10s is not enabled.
I'm currently quite under pressure because at the beginning of next week we (Mozilla, as I'm curently working within the Firefox team at implementing the parts of the WebExtensions API which are required for NoScript to work) cuts off the features which will make into Firefox 47.
I will be able look into this more closely after Wednesday, most likely.
