Crashes with Restrictions
Just a heads up NoScript is causing crashes with the Developer Edition and latest nightly builds, which you can download here to test:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... ral-win32/
The problem is when any site is not whitelisted or when the option in Embeddings "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" is checked then Firefox crashes. For instance, if you remove youtube.com and ytimg.com from the whitelist attempting to play a flash video crashes Firefox when pressing the NoScript toolbar button to allow scripts.
Likewise, if youtube.com and ytimg.com are whitelisted and "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" is checked to keep the object blocked when unblocking the object it crashes Firefox.
The only way for a flash video to play on youtube is to keep both sites whitelisted and "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" unchecked. This occurs in a fresh profile and is no problem when NoScript is disabled.

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
Hi, this occurs with any youtube video or Dailymotion video. The sites have to be whitelisted and unblocked otherwise Firefox crashes. I haven't submitted a crash report to Mozilla so about:crash is blank.therube wrote:Last few related about:crash URLs?

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
Please submit at least one crash report from this crash and post its submitted link here so that we can properly investigate.
(Isn't it "about:crashes"?)
And the board broke your link in the OP, please re-post it in url tags, like this

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
If this is what I think it is... NoScript isn't native code, it can't pass instructions to the processor that directly... this seems to be a Firefox bug/issue, please file with them https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/.EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION
But first I'd like to have some better idea that I'm not sending Guest on a wild goose chase... can someone please confirm that that crash report is indeed saying that Firefox is sending the CPU an instruction it either doesn't understand or doesn't allow?

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
A bug can be filed with Mozilla but it does only happen with NoScript installed and enabled. There are no crashes with NoScript disabled, that's why I thought it was an addon problem.

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
Fair enough, but there are many cases where NoScript is the messenger of some (bigger) problem with something else... AFAICT this is one of those times, NoScript is not the cause of the bug, just a means to reproduce it.Guest wrote:There are no crashes with NoScript disabled, that's why I thought it was an addon problem.
Again, please wait to file a bug unless you agree with my theory above or until someone else verifies that I understood correctly.

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
No problem, I can wait a day or two before filing a bug to see if anyone responds.
Are you or any of the moderators able to run an hourly build to test this yourself? It's very possible if the crash occurs only on select computers then that would confirm it's not a NoScript issue but most likely something else such as display-related.

Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too
Disable googlevideo.com
Player starts off as HTML5, spins for a time, but nothing happens (requires googlevideo.com), then (automatically) reverts to Flash. Click the Flash placeholder & "Oh, we won't give in, Let's go living in the past.".

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
So I take it then it's not crashing for you?
Those are the same settings I've tried, googlevideo.com removed from the whitelist and "Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too" checked but when I click on the placeholder Firefox crashes. Not sure if it matters but I'm not using the 64 version. Still I'm going to file a bug with Mozilla as I suspect this is a display issue if it's not NoScript.

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
I don't use Windows, this crash looks to be on Win XP... sorry but any attempt I make to reproduce the problem would likely be useless as I suspect a Win XP specific issue.
@therube, can you test it on Win XP?

Re: Crashes with Restrictions
Should have mentioned, it's happening on Windows 7 too. I've got a dual boot and thought I'd try it on both of them.
